Just believe the rest of the reviews. It's terrible. Waitress let us know the sandwiches are premade which made me think of a vending machine, only that costs $3.99. I would try their other options if you need to stay on site. Monks was good. Otherwise go 2 blocks to Famous Daves or Pizza Uno which was only $65 with wine and beer compared to $85 with soda and water at the buffet. They should close this and turn it into an arcade or paintball course.

Otherwise the Wilderness is great with great accomodations and friendly staff.

We went to Wild Canyon Cafe for dinner. There were 6 of us in our party (two adults, two 10 year olds, a 13 year old and a 14 year old). For the buffet, it was a flat $20 dollars each for the two adults and the 13 and 14 year olds. The 10 year olds were $9 each. The buffet pricing structure as I remember it is 12 and older are $20, 9-11 year olds are $9 each and below 9 year olds are free with each full paying adult. Then on top of that soda/drinks are extra. So, walking in we were essentially at $100 plus drinks. That would be fine if you were getting a top line buffet. This buffet is anything but top line. The food seems overly processed and bland. Offerings included: fried chicken, some very dried meat called "sirloin steak", some dried pork in some type of glaze topping, cheese sticks, chicken nuggets, some pudding and some fruit. The waitress we had was friendly and tried hard but we found the hostess was not very welcoming. She had a take it or leave it attitude. This restaurant needs new management. This restaurant is banking on the fact that it is inside of the Wilderness Resort to capture customers with little to no effort. In many ways the Wild Canyon Cafe sullies the good name of the Wilderness Resort. The prices need to be revamped and the food offerings need to be re-evaluated. I would not recommend this restaurant. The Dells has so many good restaurant choices there is no need to spend this much money for such poor food and poor service.

We stayed at The Wilderness in late June and on our departure day we decided to try the breakfast buffet. They do close for lunch and from other reviews it sounds as if it is good to stay away at dinner time. However, we loved the breakfast buffet. For $13.99 for adults and kids eat free that is not too bad for a tourist area. If 4 people can eat for around $30 that is a fair price.
My tip would be to go down for a late breakfast, around 10:30 and eat away, then you shouldn't need to stop for lunch. The best items are the made to order omelettes and the baked french toast. They have mounds of bacon to satisfy the current bacon craze. Their link sausage is better than most buffets and they have grapefruit sections which no place ever does and plenty of other fruits. Plus everything else one could want. So if you don't have to loosen your belt after this breakfast you never will.
The Wild Canyon Cafe is located in the lobby of The Wilderness Resort so it is likely your room will be a long ways away. Just take the shuttle as parking is limited here.

I cannot believe how awful this buffet is. It cost $20 per person and the food is nasty. Worst experience I ever had at a restaurant. Waste of a $100 for us.

Went for the buffet with a family of 4. Food was just ok, mass produced looked like frozen reheated food and underseasoned. Wish we hadn't gone, really.
