“Fun for the whole family!”
Reviewed 11 July 2011

We decided as a family to go to Wisconsin Dells. We stayed at Glacier Canyon which shares water parks (attached) to the Wilderness Lodge. I now have stayed at both and love the clean, family oriented atmosphere. Our room was a three bedroom deluxe suite and had all the comforts of home. We enjoyed the beauty of the resort and enjoyed the indoor water parks during a big snowstorm. The room and facilities were clean; the staff was friendly; the water parks were fun for all ages. The suite had a kitchen that had all the comforts of home. There was a Walmart nearby so we bought our groceries there and cooked in the room some of the time. Other times we enjoyed the restaurants and cafeterias around the resort. There were plenty of activities to do there without leaving the resort for all ages. Our family vacation consisted of a 16 year old to a 73 year old and all had fun!! There are many activities outside of the resort nearby as well. We really enjoyed our trip from beginning to end. I would definitely go back!!

Great hotel however, upon check in you will be send to another desk for your "coupon book" which is really the first line of the timeshare scam. They offer you a variety of good things to get you to do the so called 90 minute presentation. We fell for it because we were promised a 2 night/3 day free vacation back at the Wilderness/Glacier Canyon Lodge at a future date just for listening to the presentation. So we went and listened and participated however we chose not to buy at this time and ask they contact us again in 6mos because we were very interested however the timing is a bit off. We got our certificate for the free vacation only to come home from our trip and register on the certificate's website and find out first of all it's not free, you have to send them a check for $50 to cover tax and resort fees and if the fees end up being more you have to also pay those yourself...not that big of a deal but then the real kicker was to find out Wisconsin Dells isn't even listed on the cities you can use this free vacation certificate! So that was a major waste of 2 1/2 hours with our 10 year old son waiting patiently to go to the waterparks but looking forward to another trip to Glacier Canyon in the future. It's like they lied to us but worse they lied to our son too. Not very fair and this does not look good for the resort to be offering up lies with your stay!

First of all, this resort is perfect for families. We have boys who are 9 and 12 and a water park vacation is just perfect for us. They can go all the slides and if they want to do some that we don't, they can go off on their own and do that. Each area of the resort is small enough that you don't feel like you will lose your kid, but all together, big enough that there is something new to do daily. We stayed 3 days and that was the perfect amount of time to be there. We did not do any of the the kid extra's like the club or lazer tag or the arcade or any of that. We spent our time enjoying the water parks.

We stayed in the Wilderness Territory part of the Wilderness Resort Property and the location was perfect. We were right in the middle of the resort, smack dab between the Wild West indoor/outdoor water parks and the New Frontier indoor/outdoor water parks. We were on the first floor, in room 474. It was great being on the first floor because we could get in and out of the room quickly when we were just picking something up from the room. We were at the back of the building so we have a lovely view of woods. When we sat out on our little patio, it was hard to believe we were in the middle of a huge resort and not at a little cottage in the woods.

We got to the resort around 1 and had no problem getting our passes for the pool. There are public bathrooms at both of the indoor water parks so we were able to change in them. You go back at 4 and get your room key or can call the front desk to see if your room is ready earlier. Some reviewers have complained about the check in process but we had no problems.

We loved that we could be outdoors or indoors. Which was especially important as we were there in early June and the temp was in the 70's the whole time. My kids loved the huge wave pool. I would say be careful with younger kids. Most people are on tubes that get knocked around with the waves and kids without tubes get run into and over. My kids said it was like being on bumper boats. You just ran into people but no one got mad because you had no control over it. The lines for the water slides were not very bad at all. There are a few slides that are multi-people that always had lines, but we never waited more than about 20 minutes. They are worth it, and for the Hurricane, it is best to go in the morning right when it opens. The Hurrican is a 4 person ride with a 600 lb weight limit and they weight your foursome before you get on the boat.

The only place that was a disppointment was the Adventure river in the Lost World Outdoor Water park. We had been on the adventure river at Atlantis in the Bahamas the year before and so were excited for another adventure river. But this was no adventure. it was a lazy river with a few extra's added in. Plus, there was a huge log jam at the one lone slide to get you from the top section to the bottom section. I think we were stuck there for a half and hour. Most people just get out and carry their tube to the bottom level because it is such a pain.

This resort is very crowded. There were lots of people everywhere. But we had all of our stuff in a back pack and would move from park to park during the day and we never had a problem finding a place to sit and put our stuff down. You are givin a plastic card for towels. Each person gets a card and each card is worth 2 towels. At each water park area you have a place to trade in your card for a towel. When your towels are wet, you trade them for either dry towels or if you are done for the day, the card back. It is a very good system. You never had to suffer with a wet towel and you don't have to carry towels around from park to park with you.

The room was clean and very adequate. It comes with a microwave and mini fridge. We went to Wal-mart when we got there and got cereal, milk, bread, sandwich fixings, and snacks. We ate breakfast and lunch at the room, or we packed a cooler and took it out to the water park. Then we went out to dinner around town. It worked well for us because we didn't want to leave the resort in the middle of the day.

We stayed here, at the Black Hawk Motel and at Chula Vista in this visit. This was our absolute favorite. I would come back to Wilderness again and can't stop raving about it to everyone. I would not go to Chula Vista because compared to WT, it was tiny. It was a big disappointment after having been at WT. We stayed at the Black Hawk while we were doing other things around town...I didn't want to pay resort prices when we would not be there. We would go to the Black Hawk again too. You can read my reviews of these other hotels at their sites.

I was a little afraid of the size of the resort before we went but it was actually very easy to get around. We did not take the shuttle once. I would recommend trying to stay in the building right between the New Frontier and the Wild West. If you look at the resort trail guide, it is the L shaped building and there is a huge parking lot in front of it. We stayed in the building that is parelled to the river behind the building. It was easy from there to get to all parts of the resort. I remember reading a review of someone claming how hard it was to get around and the shuttles were always full. But there is no need to even use the shuttle from where we were. It was an easy walk to everywhere.

I can not say enough good things about this resort. The last bonus I want to mention is that you have to be staying at the resort to use the water parks. I know that a lot of the other water parks/hotel combo's also sell day tickets. I think those would get more crowded because of that. The day we went to Noah's Ark the lines were very long and we were frustrated because we didn't have that problem at WT.

We spent 2 nights in a 3 bedroom deluxe with 4 teen boys during spring break. The room was very clean and met our needs beautifully. The older boys had their own basic hotel room adjoining a 2 bedroom condo. The younger boys shared the bunk bed room. We didn't use the Murphy bed, but could have easily accommodated at least 2 more people with that in use.

During the time we were there, it wasn't yet the season for the outdoor water parks, but for 2 days, the indoor parks kept the boys occupied. It wouldn't have worked for us for any longer. The boys took advantage of the Wild Fun pass and it was worth it to them. We weren't thrilled with the restaurant choices on site or in the area, but we survived. We sat in the water park area with the glass roof, and enjoyed feeling the sun and even got a little color over the course of a day.

Overall this isn't my first choice of a type of vacation spot, but the boys enjoyed it and the room was nice. If you are so inclined to spend a couple of days at a water park resort, I would recommend it.

We had a family vacation for our family of 16, grandparents, families with children and single young adults. Our accomdations, the 2 and 3 bedroom deluxe suites were perfect for us. Every one thought they were great. The waterparks were perfect for the kids and there were enough other activities to keep the singles busy. We ordered a birthday party package for a 5 year old and were surprised to find the room was decorated more than we expected it would be. She loved it.

Stayed at Glacier Canyon for 1 night and loved it!
Room was beautiful with a woodsy-theme. Had very tall ceilings, a ceiling fan, and private balcony.
Waterparks were all great! My daughter loved the indoor wave pool and the Hurricane slide! Outdoor lazy river was also really neat and unlike any other I have ever seen.
Only complaints are minor:
~wish they had actual changing rooms in the locker rooms. Just had restrooms and a big open area with a bench in the middle :~(
~it is a LOT of walking if you are going from Glacier Canyon to the different parks at Wilderness. There is a shuttle, but we never learned how that worked.
Overall, I think this place is fabulous and wouldn't hesitate to return!

Our family loves Glacier Canyon!!! We have gone here two years in a row, and we're heading back with cousins next month! When we arrived, we checked in and headed to the water parks. (2 tips-ask for a room with a water park view, and stay at Glacier Canyon instead of the Wilderness, it is much quieter and newer) All the water parks were clean and fun. Another tip- Don't do rides like the Hurricane during the day, you will wait for about 45 minutes to an hour. We did the Hurricane at night, and we waited for about 5 minutes. You have to do some walking, but they have shuttles and indoor skywalks. If you don't mind walking a little bit, they have a large path. The landscaping is gorgeous!!!!! You are surrounded by trees and flowers and plants. You can't hear any traffic. Can't wait to come back!!!!

Room Tip: Avoid the second floor!!! The sky
