Description: Originally constructed in 1850, the Delton Academy was a one room Baptist Boys Schoolhouse. In 1865, it became the Delton Methodist Church. In 1894, the church was expanded and the entryway and side room additions were built. What was originally the entrance was replaced with the G.A.R. stained glass window and the bell tower was added. During this period it was also used as the G.A.R. Hall. The Grand Army of the Republic was the Civil War version of the V.F.W. for the Union army. In 1868, General Order #11 of the G.A.R. called for May 30th to be designated as the day of memorial for Union veterans; originally called "Decoration Day", it later evolved into the U.S. national Memorial Day holiday. The G.A.R. was also active in pension legislation, establishing retirement homes for soldiers, and many other areas which concerned Union veterans. The influence of the G.A.R. led to the creation of the Old Soldiers' Homes of the late 19th century, which evolved into the current United States Department of Veterans Affairs. The back room, bathroom and kitchen addition was added sometime in the 1950's. In the 1970's, the building was then purchased by a group of local residents and it became the Old Delton Academy Antique Mall. In the spring of 2007, the building underwent a revamping and became what it is today; the oldest public building in southwest Wisconsin and home of the Brat House Grill. The building still retains it's original wood floor, wainscoting and window frames. It's remarkable what great shape the building is in after it's extensive and varied history.

I stopped with my kids to try it out since we live in the area and we wanted to try something new. Bad choice, the burgers are just so so. The kids menu if I recall is 3 items. Hot dog, chicken tenders, and a grilled cheese? Overpriced for what you get, burger with homemade chips, about 10 if your lucky. And the chips were made who's knows how long before they ended up in my basket I noticed a big bowl of them sitting under the heat lamp on my way to the rest room. The place had 2 other customers and the waitress came off as we were interrupting their social hour. And to top it off she overcharged me twice.. Will not return, go 2 blocks further to monks. They will not disappoint.

They appear to have fixed the slow service on the patio as they have a sign outside asking the patrons to stop in and let them know. We were traveling and they allowed us to bring our dog out with us. Had a spotted cow on tap, delicious. We both had brat burgers, not the best brat but none the less tasty. I would come here again

This was our half way stop for a simple lunch and a little down time. I had a great brat basket with a really outstanding pretzel bun. If you are looking for a really wide selection of adult beverages look no further. This Sunday was a quiet comfortable atmosphere with a little Brewers baseball on a huge big screen TV.

My husband grew up in the distant suburbs of the Chicago area, and is pretty finicky about his Italian sausage....he said this was by far the closest thing he's had since he left 15 years ago! Servers were very friendly, and the prices are very reasonable....two of us had lunch with drinks for only like $20.

We went to the Brat House for lunch and went inside and told the staff member that we would prefer to sit outside. We went out there and after 15 minutes with no service ended up leaving. Would like to try it but were disappointed that no one came to give us drinks or even menus. We were looking forward to trying their Brats.
