The gentleman that checked us in was a delight to deal with.and gave us a lot of tips for the town and sight seeing. The cabins were very nice and clean! This was the most quiet stay of the week we have been on the road. You must take a tour of Big Horn while your there too!

We booked on line and got their last available cabin. It had been recently renovated and was super-clean and surprisingly spacious with a kitchenette. It was relaxing after a long drive to sit on the bench outside our cabin and watch the sunset over the mountains. It's a short walk to the grocery store and downtown beyond. A charming town by the way---made me think that living in Wyoming couldn't be all bad. I recommend the drive west out of town over the mountains to Tensleep---absolutely one of the best stretches of road I've ever driven---gorgeous views the whole way.

This lodge was cheap clean and really nice for the price. Pretty good privacy. I would definately recommend this to a friend. The staff are very polite, willing to go out of their to help you. The only thing bad that I found at all was the fact there were no pens. And the shower head was the worst one I have ever used by far

I stayed in cabin #25 (the one in the photograph) and was pleased to find it as current and updated as it was. Many times with cabins, you don't know what you're getting into until you're there, and often without much opportunity for change if desired. In my case, I was driving South into Buffalo during a winter storm. That was all the excitement I wanted as the day came to a close. I was pleasantly surprised by George, the innkeeper, who was so kind and friendly. I was the only reservation who wasn't there yet, so after I was taken care of, George closed up the office. He had opened up the cabin (remember this is winter - so it's off-season, no tourist, bare bones staffing in Wyoming) and turned on the heat before I arrived. This was much welcomed since the storm brought gusts of wind up to 50 mph, and the wind chill was -10. Besides being warmed and ready, the room was a pleasant surprise. Clean - I mean immaculate. Not a single speck of dust anywhere, which is a pretty herculean task considering the room is a stand-alone cabin. Have you ever looked at the curved log paneling in a cabin? Each log top is a vacation land for dust. Multiply that by 20 and then wrap a room in it. I was seriously impressed at this level of cleanliness, especially in a lesser-staffed off-season.

During the night the wind howled incredibly, but I was nice and toasty inside, with cable tv and free wifi to boot. I did manage to step out to the nearby grocery store for a few treats - thankfully, the room had a microwave and fridge. The next morning was bright beautiful sun, no wind, and I enjoyed a morning chat with George before making my way in to enjoy the town properly. I would not hesitate to recommend or to stay at the Z-Bar cabins again.

The Z-Bar seems like it's from another era, much like Buffalo itself, and that's not
necessarily a bad thing. The cabins are basic but clean with minimal but adequate
amenities. You are a short walk from the lovely little downtown, which has somehow
survived while so many small towns have been hollowed out by big boxes and declining
populations. The cabins are strung along a central grassy area, and seem to cater to
hunters in the fall as well as general tourists. Very affordable and a helpful front desk
staff if you show some interest in the area and its history. Not for everyone; if you likethe bland, predictability of the average highway chain hotel, you might want to look
elsewhere.

Room Tip: Also have efficiencies for longer stays.

We had a room with a kitchen and enjoyed cooking our meal. Everything needed was provided even though some dishes could be renewed. The place is quiet, we slept with open windows and didn't hear any street traffic. The grounds are pleasant and well kept.
The person at the reception wasn't very friendly and didn't make you feel welcome.

We stayed here in October 2012... EXCELLENT, CLEAN, FRIENDLY place. We ABSOLUTELY LOVED it. There was a safe play area for kids, a grocery store just down the road...you just feel so at home here, can't wait to go back. Will definitely stay here again!! A++
