Driving from Sheridan , we stopped to see this unique hotel and museum of history and antiques. A lot of history here, on every wall there are informative old newspaper clippings and many photos of the past. There are stories of the famous and the infamous. Staff are extremely nice and readily answer questions and allow visitors to meander around at their leisure.

We dropped in for the self-guided tour of the museum on a Sunday morning. Our timing was unfortunate because we'd have really liked to have a drink or two in the saloon, which was closed. Still, the ambiance was amazing. An old barber shop is now a gift shop. There's a proper Victorian lounge and hallway filled with memorabilia. Everything seems to have a story, including the mural painted on the wall near the pool table. If you are in or near the charming, historic town of Buffalo, you must stop here!

Although to stay at the Occidental is abit more expensive than a motel, it was well worth it. The museum is great to look around and the room we had was great, it was at the rear overlooking the Creek. Buffalo itself was a lovely little town and we felt very safe there. It had some lovely hikes too.

I would like to say the occidental hotel is like walking into a norman Rockwell painting and visiting our parents or grandparents America, good music, simple elegance in rooms, a throwback to times when life was easygoing, but the modern wifi is there, and television so both worlds merge very nicely Patricia dorgan

I liked it all. The town was awesome. Dash inn was good. Virginian was okay. First time I've ever ate a duck. Cops are very friendly. Love the scenery around there. Can't wait to come back.
