This was a great old hotel located in downtown Cheyenne. There are some great museums and restaurants within walking distance of the hotel and the Cheyenne Botanical Gardens are only a few miles away. Cheyenne Depot Plaza is right across the street with a museum and a pub and The Wrangler, a large western store,

One elevator and very historic lobby. Our room was not updated but still nice. Great location in middle of town. There for Cheyenne Days and the parade that is not to be missed. Parking in lot 3 blocks away not great but lots of cab service and transportation available.

Room Tip: Double queen bedroom seemed to be updated. Our room was overwhelmed with the king bed. Top floor b...

Great service from Vinny and they offer a veterans discount. Downtown location with easy access to dining, site seeing and freeway. Parks and museums are within walking distance. Quite and comfortable rooms.

Gentlemen,
My husband and I were guests of The Historic Plains Hotel on July 22, 23 and 24. We left the morning of the 25th. We had room 249. We are not happy with our stay at your hotel.
1. The directions to where to park our car were verbal and confusing. No map was provided even though one was available. When we finally found the parking lot, we waited 15 minutes in the hot sun to be picked up.
2. On the morning of the 23rd we had no electricity in our room for approximately 45 minutes. It took two requests (one by phone and one in person) to have someone fix the problem.
3. On the morning of the 25th we had no hot water, and the problem had not been fixed by the time we checked out.
4. Our room was very dark and depressing due to the dim lighting. The one window in the room was painted and gave little light. When we finally got it opened, it looked out onto a flat roof littered with junk.
5. After the first day, the toilet, sink & tub in the bathroom were never cleaned again, and one morning there was a bug crawling on the bathroom floor. The bathroom must still have the original 1911 fixtures.
And for all this "luxury" we paid $229 plus tax per night.
Sincerely,

Paul & Virginia Bengel

I would not recommend this hotel, for anything, the downstairs is nice, but the service terrible, management clueless, water problems, no bath tub draining, no toilet paper, no place to put clothes, I.e. Nothing not a drawer except the night stand, blankets torn, carpet stained, it's a long list. Manager notified at 7:30 a.m., politely , about toilet paper, bath tub drain problem, dresser, etc. I have pictures to show. When I called her...oh so sorry forgot to get them up there this is 8 hours later. $255 a night, wow!!!! take my advice, stay somewhere else, finding a place to park is not that big a challenge. Other than this Frontier Days was great, people were fantastic, an all American event, Plains Hotel forget it, Frontier Days every one should see.

Yes, it's an old hotel but with that given, it has charm, comfort, cleanliness and great access to a interesting downtown. The prices are very reasonable - we stayed in a large suite, comfortable living room with 2 queen beds in a separate space for $142 per night. The staff was efficient, friendly and helpful

The amenities are spare such as one bar of soap and a small shampoo. Our room was over the main road and across from the railroad station and was noisy - and it really was very noisy. The traffic noise was like we had the windows open but later in the evening it calmed down. We did sleep with the window air conditioner on so that drowned out the street noise.

I would stay there again.

The hotel is about what you expect when you see the word, "Historic" in it's name. I personally love these types of hotels. One of my favorites, Hotel Laguna, was the first hotel in that area. The first thing you notice is that the room is huge. Things are about as well kept as they can be for a place that old. The toilet tank lid didn't fit right, the tile in the bathroom was cracked in spots, the water was cold then hot, then cold again. The parking was non-existent which is the only thing I would have changed. That's the "downside" but only if you are expecting the Ritz. Because the rooms are big, I would definitely recommend the hotel for children who are a bit rambunctious. There was reliable Wi-Fi, a great television, light cancelling curtains, a great cooler/heater, a big bathroom, the staff was awesome and considerate, the location was easy to find. For me personally, I love the "old" feel, the history of things so I was thrilled that "Historic" wasn't just to draw people but that it actually was quite old. If that's not your thing, you wouldn't want to stay here. It's a great central place for business meetings, on your own, with friends or families. OH! I forgot, the beds were HUGE and very clean.

Room Tip: Possibly a top floor room would be the quietest because we did hear the folks above us walking aroun...
