We stayed at the Plains Hotel, right across the street. After a walk, had to time to do something - Oh, look! A movie theater. Yeah let's do it. I checked prices. About $9 total for the 3 of us. What a deal. Older movie, but I hadn't seen it yet. After movie, walked across the street to the Plains, went to room, went to bed. Great evening.

We went to see a pretty new release, and yet the big theater was empty save for two or three other people. It is very old and dated, and as I was sitting there waiting for the film to start, I started thinking about how this must be terrible business for them and how some new covers for the seats and a new carpet on the floor would make a huge difference. The early 2000s music and the bad commercials were almost as entertaining as the movie itself. If you love old movie theatres and/or cheap movies then go!

The Lincoln Theater was one of three movie houses downtown. The Lincoln is the only that remains. It was converted into two screens with the balcony now the smaller theater. It now is a second run theater and basically they want you to go in for nearly free and buy popcorn and pop. I've rented the place for some screenings for the local film festival and recently packed the place with an Oscar winning movie produced by a local movie maker. It's a little dated and the rental price was a little steep, in my opinion, but they do have to pay for their contract movies regardless. It plays digital movies and has a pretty good sound system.

I will not be attending this theater again. I had a water bottle on the outside of my purse and the person working said I couldn’t bring it in okay that’s fine. I’ve been walking around all day so yes I had it with me. But then he asked me to open my purse???? I could understand if I was looking suspicious or sketchy and he was checking for a weapons but no he wanted to make sure I didn’t have any other type of food or drink. I don’t know about you guys but when I walk around town and I’m low on money I carry snacks with me. He took them from me. I watched as another women came in with a purse and she was not checked or the women after that. I was creeped out and really upset for being embarrassed like that, all for having a water bottle. I would rather go pay more for a better experience and a more comfortable theater.

This is a cute old-fashioned theater. They offer movies at a much lower price than other cinemas in town, however it is a chilly few hours to sit in the old building. Enjoyable, but grab a extra sweater.
