“Quiet, beautiful, and secluded!”
Reviewed 28 July 2014

This place was built by Buffalo Bill Cody as a hunting lodge just outside of Yellowstone National Park. We stayed in the queen suite cabin #1 and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves with privacy and quiet. No, there is no TV, no wifi, and no cell service. It is very remote and amenties are harder and more expensive for them to provide. So my wife and I hiked down to the North Fork of the Shoshone for some fly fishing, sat on the porch and drank wine, took a nap, and talked. We did have coffee in the room, the room, sheets, and towels were clean and our energy levels were turned way down. We ate well at the restaurant and got good service. In short, it was what we expected and more. We did have to drive into Wapiti to get fishing licenses so get those before you go, but there was a great breakfast place down there and it was a pleasant and beautiful 20 minute drive. Ice is free to guests at the small store and the staff got us some from the kitchen our first night when we arrived after the store was closed. If you have the right expectations going in you will have a great and relaxing time. We are already planning our next trip!

Room Tip: Spring for a private cabin and you will have a great experience.

The breakfast (not included in room rate) was wonderful although the coffee was average and I was never offered a refill. We arrived there at 10 pm. It was dark at our cottage and the lightbulb to the steps was burned out so we had to make our way up the stairs in the dark. The 3 bedroom room (5 of us) was horrible. The deadbolt on the door was hollow - they had taken out the bolt. All there was for security was a flimsy chain and a pop-out button lock. The rooms were filthy. Ripped carpet. Kind of creepy for 2 women and 3 kids. We pulled mattresses into the largest bedroom and slept together. This would be okay for a group of hunters who only want the convenient location and a good breakfast. Otherwise, I would advise Do Not Stay There! Historic though. And beautiful location. And convenient location.

It sounded nice, but was so awful. We were so excited about staying just outside the entrance to Yellowstone as we had a full day in there and thought that it would be convenient to stay so close. The fact that it is near is about the only good thing about it.

We stayed in cabin 4, it smelt, had no lighting, and the towels were stained! It has connecting door with the next cabin, you can see into next door as the gap in the door is so wide, you can also hear every word your neighbours are saying!

We had a meal in the evening which was average but the staff were so rude.

We left at around 6:30 the following morning! If you are leaving Yellowstone and want a convenient place to stay its worth the extra drive to Cody.

Even though the setting was beautiful, we felt like for the price of the room, little was offered. We knew there would be no TV, but didn't realize we would have no cell phone service. Also the room was extremely small even for just my husband and me. There was no coffee in the room nor any available before 7:00 a.m. at the restaurant or gas station as well as no ice available, and we wanted to leave at 6:00 a.m. The lighting was terrible....one overhead dim light and the table lamp didn't work.

We rented an A-Frame room here because it was close to the entrance to Yellowstone, and even though we were looking for lodging 7 months in advance, there were no other rooms available for the time we were booking for inside the park, so we opted for this option.

We will never choose to stay here again.

This is a decent place to stay convenient to Yellowstone. The cabin we stayed in was small and basic, but it seemed clean and stayed warm. Television and internet are very limited in Yellowstone so don't expect much(think of where you are).

After reading endless bad things about the Teepee, I was nervous about staying there, but the location (less than 2 miles from the East entrance to Yellowstone was so convenient and what we needed). It was nice actually! We stayed 1 night in the queen suite cabin. It was a decent size and clean with a new bathroom. The surroundings were beautiful. Staff were not overly friendly, but not rude either. We didnt try the restaurant. The address for this place is Cody, but it is NOT in Cody. It is actually 50 miles down the road from Cody, right at the East entrance. The restaurant seemed kind of pricey given the location, but there is nothing else there, so if you dont want to eat there, be sure to get take out before you leave Cody for the Teepee.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Queen Suite (which was 2 rooms, but no kitchen). We liked it, but it is right besi...

This was the destination of a much anticipated trip and it was horrible. Our large group was booked into the lodge, which had insufficient room for the people. Hubby and I plus another couple were crammed into a double room that obviously was supposed to be a single: no chair, no table, no TV, no tub (just a wee shower), no luggage racks, and one squatty lamp with a 60-watt bulb for four people to use. I'm surprised they didn't cram a cot into the closet. Minimal and cheesy amenities. (ONE bar of soap? Ewww.) No wi-fi or phone coverage. Surrounded by A-frame cabins whose metal roofs and faux rustic exterior make them look like quarters for Okie migrants. The driveway up to the lodge is semi-paved and bumpy; better have 4WD to get there! No security; exterior doors were not locked and room doors had chains inside (but no dead-bolt) and a knob lock that a six-year-old could force with a credit card. Walls were paper thin. Don't believe the web page -- it's fantasy!

Room Tip: Go someplace else.
