Holiday Inn Cody at Buffalo Bill Village

Stayed at the Holiday Inn Cody for one night on a round trip and chose it as one of the few choices to stay at the east entrance to Yellowstone Nationalpark.

In all the hotel is acceptable, a bit pricey but the really dirty toilet which we found in our room is a real NO GO. We cleaned it ourselves otherwise it wouldn´t have been usable.

We arrived at the place around 2.30 pm and the lobby was crowded. There had a tour group (they stay there a lot!!) arrived and lots of people waited for their rooms. We were lucky, our room was ready but many others were turned down. The room was at door 4 at the very far end of the property. There are many entrances to the separate buildings and you can park your car near your entrance.

We had our room on the second floor. Beware: There are not elevators so you have to carry your luggage up the stairway. The room itselft was quite large, suffiently clean except for the toilet. Here some stains and remains were visible which had to be cleaned.

The hotel has an outside pool with chairs and umbrellas which was quite nice. It wasn´t too crowded there so we had the chance to relax there. Pool towels were provided.

Breakfast is not included in the rate but there is a coffee station available.

In the morning the first tour bus driver started his engine at 6.00 am but didn´t left until 7.00 am so this was a noisy and smelly morning. There were four tour buses parked there so you had a lot of noise of the buses and the groups leaving.

When we left, we saw cleaning staff sorting fresh towels all around the old floor carpet. Not good!!!

Overall value not so good, we would probably choose another hotel next time.

Room Tip: If you have problems carrying your luggage upstairs without an elevator, ask for a ground floor room...

We just stayed at the Holiday Inn in Cody and were very disappointed. As a Holiday Inn Gold Member I would have expected to get much more - and treated better.

We arrived at 2:35pm and the lobby was empty. Although two people were at the counter we had to wait around 5 minutes because they did other stuff. When I asked if our room is already available the guy looked at me and said "sorry - come back in 20 minutes". So we went and came back 20 minutes later to find again the lobby empty and 3 people now doing other things. After about a 10 minute wait we were able to check in just to find out that our room actually was ready earlier. So the guy just flipped us off. Not really a nice behaviour.

We went to our upstairs room just to find out that the hotel has no elevator but instead an over agressive bell man running down the floor and heavily promoting his service. He insisted that it's a Holiday Inn policy that guests are not allowed to carry luggage ... he left when i asked him to see this policy written.

The rooms are clean and cosy - since the hotel is a bit off the street it's also quiet. Our room had a smoking smell although marked as a non-smoking room so it must have been recently converted. We used Febreeze to mask the smell. The bathrooms are nice and large.

I think if you want to stay near the East Entrance of Yellowstone this is your only choice you have. However I would anyway recommend South or North entrance where hotels are much better and nearer to the park.

We had been to this hotel 12 years ago when it was just cabins, but now if was a full-fledged hotel. We were out of season and the hotel was clean and quiet. Our room was more than adequate for 3 adults and the staff was extremely friendly. The hotel is within walkin distance of the entire town and within walking distance of many different restaurants. We had a great stay and would highly recommend. We had not chosen the hotel. It was on a tour itinerary, but I would definitely stay there on my own if I had the chance.

The hotel has a new feel and the beds were very comfortable. The lounge Bottoms Up was pleasant and pictorial. My group ate at the hotel restaurant and the ribs are very good. I ate at Granny's across the street and it was fair and cheap. Make sure you visit the Buffal Bill Cody Historical center. Save at least 2 or 3 hours for this great event.

The hotel hallways and parking area were more or less clean, and the room was well furnished and comfortable. Check in was really pleasant, by a super friendly young woman. The pool was closed for the season (outdoor) which made for a slightly boring visit for the kids. The TVs had just all been converted to HD, and our cable didn't work. We called and requested service, and had to follow up 12 hours later (when we returned to the hotel with kids... and still no TV!). A maintenance person was at the room within minutes replacing the TV, and the hotel comp'ed us a movie... which was nice. Upon checkout, the front desk person had my information up, and called me by name before I even arrived at the desk. Impressive! She also asked how the kids' sporting events went (also impressive that she remembered the kids sharing their reason for the visit!). I believe her name was Jennifer, but she really made this stay memorable and fun.

Found the staff to all be excellent and courteous (above average for a Holiday Inn). Hotel was a typical Holiday Inn, may be a little cleaner than usual. No elevator to second floor was a bit odd for the size of this property. Had a handicapped room and the usual issue was there. The handicapped room is just a regular room with a modified washroom. This is annoying because the entry hallway is very narrow and it is difficult to get a wheelchair into the room and washroom. This is a common problem however. All in all a pretty good Holiday Inn. Not the nicest I've ever been in but not the worst by far.

Not particularly up to Holiday Inn quality. Beware the lack of elevators to the 2nd floor if you are not willing to haul yourself or your luggage up the stairs. It is large, with a mediocre restaurant on site, has decent amenities (although there is no microfridge or microwave in the rooms--a fridge can be requested pending availability, however). You can do much better, and much worse in Cody. This hotel is decidedly middle of the road.
