I found this little gem on the Internet when planning our trip to Wyoming last year. My husband and I stayed in the Honeymoon Cabin for a few nights. We enjoyed the relaxing setting away from the hustle and bustle of Yellowstone. Johnnie drove us into the park for a whole day with a picnic lunch. Worth every penny because he knew the best places to take us and he could drop us off, picking us up after our walks-we did not have to worry about crowded parking lots.
The meals at the ranch were very good, and we even enjoyed some-mores by the campfire. Dianna, Johnnie, and the rest of the staff made you feel right at home. We would definitely recommend this beautiful hide-a-way.

We stopped for one night because we needed a place to stay on the east end of Yellowstone and they had a vacancy sign up on our way by. We ended up staying for three nights. Everyone made us feel welcome and right at home (that is if your home is a cabin near Yellowstone with a pool, horses, nice views, and an attentive staff!!). Had two great trail tides, and the evening campfires were a great way to end the day. We'll book a longer stay next time we're in the area, and we'll try to catch some of the huge trout in the river.

Stayed at BWCR mid August. Wife ,daughter and myself had a fantastic time. The staff and owners go out of their way to make you feel at home. Food was fantastic and the cooks we the nicest people. Cabins were clean and comfortable. Nothing fancy, but if you want 5 star resort, goto the city. Horse rides were fun and the wranglers made even inexerienced riders feel at ease. Yellowstone is a must being it is so close by.But for breath taking views and just pure beauty check out the Cheif Joseph trail and the Beartooth mountains if you have a chance. As a very experienced travler i cant reccomend BWCR enough.

There is nothing in our previous experience that could prepare us for the time we spent at Blackwater Creek. Neither of us are riders or have any horse experience.

We spent 3 days at the ranch and every moment was exceptional. The trail rides are like nothing we could imagine, and impossible to put into words. Bordering on the mystical. The horses are gentle and well mannered, with the slight exception of the one that is afraid of butterflies, this is true. But a wonder to behold.

Everything at the ranch is perfection. The cabins, beds, and linens are all clean and comfortable. You have everything you need and nothing you don't.

The meals at the main lodge are excellent. There is a menu which we can't comment on, because we never looked at one. Each day there is a fixed menu, which is superbly prepared. In the tree days we were treated to barbeque ribs and chicken, grilled salmon and chicken and prime rib steak. The prime rib was the best I've had in many years. The side dishes are various and diverse and prepared with as much care and attention as the main dishes. Fresh vegetables and fruit, home made desserts and not to forget the home made ice cream. More than once one of the chef's prepared something handmade homemade for us to compliment the meal; like a tartar sauce for the salmon. Wait I forgot the baked beans, you have to try the beans.

The people are like extended family, even Grandma will join you for dinner and regale you with recollections of the old south. It's true.

From the owner's Diana and Johnnie and the wranglers, dining room staff, chefs, house keepers; everyone on the team makes every moment a joy.

The other reviews are true to their word.

We stumbled across Blacwater Creek by chance and our entire family is still talking about what a great time we had! The staff was off the charts, friendly, fun, and professional. Food was great...horses and trails were awesome. John and Diane really make you feel at home and we are already talking it up with friends as our next vacation together!
We highly recommend staying at this gem just outside Yellowstone!
PS: Chelsea we miss you and have a great rest of the summer!

My hubby and I went to Yellowstone to camp out however all the sites were full by noon. We were freaking out about where we were going to stay and then we came across Blackwater Creek just 15 miles out of the park. This place was awesome. The employees were so kind and friendly. My hubby and I ordered dinner and we ended up staying and chatting with all the workers.

The cabin we stayed in was so cute. It maybe one of the original cabins. I loved this experience!!! I wish we could have stayed longer.

We spent a fantastic 2.5 hrs riding the hills, loved the fact it was just the 2 of us with our guide. The staff were very helpful from the reception through to our guide. The scenery was beautiful, we wish we had allowed enough time to do a 4 hr or full day ride. Would go back again & highly recommend it
