The camp is very crowded. No campfires, or pool, basically you have a pad to park and that's it! The area around there is amazing. I highly recommend Bear tooth pass. We trailed our motorcycle and rode there. The sights are amazing. As far as the campground tho, if you need a place to park its perfect. But if you enjoy camping I would not stay here.

This was the first time we stayed in a campground that was within the city limits and I had my reservations but they were quickly laid to rest as we pulled into the campground. After we got all checked in the gal at the registration desk took another 20 minutes to tell us about the various attractions around town. We were even able to buy tickets on site which was VERY convenient.

The campground was immaculate! Private shower stalls with dry dressing area and curtains for privacy. The grounds were well maintained with flower pots around the property that were watered daily, added just that touch of home that made it extra comfortable.

It's a busy campground so there is a lot of activity but even with the traffic we found the campground to be quiet.

We will be staying at the Ponderosa again!

If there was anything to complain about, and it's really a minor inconvenience, they accept ONLY cash, no debit or credit cards. They do have an ATM in the lobby next to registration so it wasn't a huge deal but good to know if you're going. Also, don't forget to check out the items in the back of the store. Many Native American and western pieces if you're into that sort of thing.

This campground is within walking distance of the Buffalo Bill museum. It is busy and seems to stay pretty full. We stayed for a week in 2013 and again in 2014 on a pull through site. This appears to be the newer section of the campground. The back-in sites seem to be in the original part of the campground and require a level of back up skills we lack. I'd recommend making reservations as early as possible. They do not take credit cards, nor do they ask for any deposit for a reservation. I was apprehensive about this but it was unfounded we had a great pull through site each time. Last year they called me about 4 pm to make sure we were still coming. It turned out many come with out a reservation and seem to wait in the lobby to see if someone does not show up. This year I called them at 12 noon to tell them we were on our way. Also note that there is no pool at either of the large Cody campgrounds. The rodeo bus stops at the campground and for $5 bucks RT it is a great way to get to the Cody rodeo.

This is a clean campground near the center of Cody. We were in a tent and had a choice between a grassy spot near the road or a spot down by the river (quieter but more primitive). We chose the grass close to the very clean restrooms and showers. There was some traffic noise earlier in the evening, but it did quiet down during the night. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Good spot for a one night stay in Cody. WiFi is available.

Room Tip: This is a campsite, not a hotel... Talk to the staff regarding a choice of campsite.

There on 7/29/14. Great place. Rented one of the cabins. Cute and rustic and very clean. Had a small refrigerator and microwave and a 13" tv with cable! Staff very friendly. Had to pay cash, $54 for the night. However, the gift shop does accept credit card. Laundry, showers and club house.Would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Tenting is roughing it. Must call to reserve cabin.

We booked five weeks in advance explaining to the agent that we were traveling with friends who were new to pulling a fifth wheel and promised them we would book only pull thru's for them. Upon arriving the only thing they had for us were two of the smallest back in sights that I have ever seen. No exaggeration - I'm not sure our slides could have even gone out IF we were willing to turn our rigs over to them to park. Had been here before and would never recommend them again or go back.

I've stayed at this campground, as have my parents, multiple times over the years, and find it clean, comfortable, and somewhat shaded. It's location is just excellent with respect to the rodeo, river rafting, the Buffalo Bill Center, and downtown. This time no camper cabin was available to reserve, so I opted for the $28/night (good rate!) teepee. The reservation process was handled well, and the check-in was just super, with all kinds of advice about things to see, do. I was worried about mosquitoes in the teepees down by the river, so we were in one of the three up front. I wouldn't recommend them: naturally, the top of a teepee is open, so if it does rain, expect the inside to get wet. There is no floor or grass---just hardpacked, uneven, bare dirt with some rocks and lots of Granddaddy Longlegs spiders. Entry requires ducking, and the "flap" to cover the doorway is just a piece of tarp without a means of securing it. Remember that these are close to the main highway (Cody to the East entrance of YNP), so late in July, early in August expect masses of motorcycles, noisy and running literally all night long. I would suggest to Ponderosa the availability of low wooden pallets in the teepees....and consider reserving one down by the river! Ponderosa offers a $7 breakfast starting at 6 a.m., has laundry and shower facilities for those not using full-hookups. the tent area is nicely grassed, and the RV area has both back-in and pull-throughs. It is the preferable place to camp in Cody...but think twice about the front teepees!

Room Tip: Ask to be located either down by the river (tent or teepee) or at the back of the property.
