“Some problems with aroma”
Reviewed 3 August 2008

This is an older property that has been updated. Staff friendly but several problems. It is quite large and spread out, meaning a lot of people are going to be staying there, but the breakfast area is way too small for the number of people. So you may have to eat standing up or trying to sit on a couch in the small lobby. But the worst problem is that, as I found out much too late (at the end of the stay), the property borders some kind of sewage treatment plant and when it is warm the aroma fills the air and in the rooms at the back of the property. We were baffled our first night because we smelled sewage in our room and thought it was the drains clogging or gas coming up or something. But nothing we did could get rid of the faint sewer smell. They perfume the rooms to try to cover it up but that lasts only a short while. When I mentioned this upon checking out, they said oh yeah there is a sewage facilty behind the motel!!! But no discount for that, you'll pay premium rates even if your room stinks. If you must stay here, get a room near the street, not in the back!

Although one of the highest rated on this website, remember this is a small town and this Best Western is a Motorlodge. Therefore, bikers, cars, and driveways are right outside your bedroom window. The breakfast buffet is definitely continental and not "full" as described, but a welcome benefit.
The worst issue is the hot and cold water alternating whenever we took a shower. The one thing you want after hiking and fishing in Yellowstone is the shock of icy water and then scalding water. No, no one was flushing the toilet, other guests said they experienced the same thing.
Know it's atleast 2.5 hrs to Old Faithful, but a little over an hour to the farthest eastern entrance to Yellowstone park. It's a 15-20 minute walk from hotel to "downtown" restaurants and bars.
I just couldn't believe they get away with charging so much at a barely 1-star hotel. Oh, and don't expect fresh towels if they're on the sink, put them on the floor if you want ANY fresh linens. Bring all your own toiletries. They only had soap.

I stayed in a very modern, clean and functional room, it was a little small but quite satisfactory none the less. I didn't go to the pool but it looked quite nice and the laundry mat was a pleasant surprise since I was camping for a couple days and had no clean clothes. Also the continental breakfast was quite good.

I really liked the location because it was close to the Sierra Outpost Outlet store which I loved.

Great and very comfortable stay overall!

A very pleasant stay. It was very clean and quiet. The staff was very helpful in finding left behind property and returning it. It was a good value for the money. I would stay again.

2 adults /2 children 8 & 9 recently spent 1 night on the way to Yellowstone. This is an older court type motel with lots of grass and trees. We had a funky, family suite with 2 bedrooms, 1long hallway and 1 bathroom. The lightbulbs in the rooms must have all been 40watts- as very dim. The bedrooms were very clean and comfortable. 1 bedroomn had a microwave, fridge. Both bedrooms had a flat panel tv and DVD player. Very convient for motorcycles, as you park outside your door. They had an indoor pool with a hot tub and outdoor pool. Also a self-serve guest laundry. Continental breakfast very good. Good location.

  • Liked — Comfortable. Outdoor pool

This BW is wonderful - a great experience and we are so glad we booked a room for 2 nights! This is an older property but a great example of how you can have a well-decorated room and park-like surroundings even if your property is not brand new!

The check-in service was fast and efficient; the rooms are large and beautifully decorated; everything is clean. The motel is close to everything, has 2 pools and a hot tub for a reasonable price.

I may come to Cody, Wyoming again just to stay in this motel!

It was a beautiful drive from Yellowstone NP to Cody. We saw more deer than in the Park (but be aware, we also saw a total-loss car, who just had a collision with one of them!). The Best Western Hotel is easy accessible from the highway trough Cody.

It was busy when we were there, but check-in went smooth by friendly staff. There are all one-floor units and everyone can park their car in front of their room.

We had a two Queens room; the room was of a normal size, but somewhat dark. There was a working desk with chair, an easy chair plus ottoman, a unit with drawers, a DVD player and TV and a proper size closet, all furniture of good quality. The sink is outside of the (clean) bathroom. There was also a fridge, a microwave and a coffee set (with much coffee!). The carpet in the room was spotless (seemed new).

In the lobby are two computers for free use, but both of them worked too slow of better not al all when we were there in May.

The breakfast the next morning is free and had much more than expected. It is extended continental with also some hot items. There was a friendly woman taking care of everything.

If you are in Cody there are two things not to be missed and highly recommended. First in the evening (from May till end September) the Dan Miller’s Cowboy revue (cowboymusicrevue.com), it is a great performance and we enjoyed the show very much. Second the 5 museums of the Buffalo Bill Historical Center (bbhc.org). There are both on a very short drive from the Best Western Hotel.

The rate in mid May was already on the high size, but it could do; in the summer period it might be too high for the quality given. But of course then all hotels in Cody have rates in the top level.
