“A must place to stay to enjoy the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone”
Reviewed 9 July 2013

My wife and I stayed in Cabin #14 and it was a great experience. It had everything you could want and the bed was so comfortable and we loved the Longhorn decor. The Longhorn Ranch is located just outside of Dubois so it made it an excellent starting point to go to Jackson Hole, Grand Tetons, Yellowstone as well as the great rodeo on Friday evenings at Dubois. Lots of privacy and the cabin was very clean and well kept. I finally got to stay at a place where the value of the room and service exceeded the price. There is a stream the runs by that made everything so relaxing. Many options to choose from. Cabins, motel rooms, RV parks or pure camping. Will definately return again.

Room Tip: Get your gas in Dubois. It is a lot cheaper there than going to Jackson Hole or in Yellowstone. A mu...

Nice privately owned motel, RV park. Located close to Grand Teton andYellowstone's South Entrance. I liked staying her and going not the parks as opposed to Cody, WY. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated in western theme. Staff was very nice and helpful. Only issue was the door to the room next to us was "sticking" and the people there were slamming it shut each time they went in and out - unfortunately they were in and out all evening - our room would shake like crazy each time. Had it been a courteous neighbor it wouldn't have been so bad. We reported it and they wrote out a repair note at that moment. Breakfast was very good compared to typical hotel continental breakfasts. Would recommend.

Room Tip: Unfortunately you can't pick your neighbors...

Loved staying in the private little cabin with the screened in porch off the back! Very roomy, great price and nice location along the river. This is not a remote location, but there is charm in the surrounding scenery and along the river there is wildlife. Take a drive through local back roads and visit the Baptist church about a couple of miles away. We loved the town and we were happy exploring from this motel. We stayed three nights could definitely have stayed longer--there was more to see and enjoy!

The Longhorn Ranch is on several acres along the Wind River with groves of aspen trees and, while we were there, flocks of Canadian geese teaching their goslings to swim in the tough river currents (careful of the goose poop on the grassy banks).

We stayed in one of the motel rooms which was perfectly fine for a night, though I wouldn't have wanted to stay longer. Part of the problem---and this is the problem with virtually every motel---is that if you want any natural light in your room, then you have to open curtains that will let every passerby look in. Nevertheless, it was very clean, with a little fridge and coffeemaker, rustic furniture, a place to sit outside, and a decent bed.

If we were coming back and camping or had an RV, then I could see hanging out here for much longer. The place is run by a very nice, well-informed young couple who were happy to accommodate our coming a day later than our reservation (I had a terrible cold). It has laundry, a little store, and the area around Dubois is stunning. In other circumstances, it would have been idyllic.

Stayed here for one night last week and was very pleased. Large, clean room with refrigerator, microwave, and comfy beds. Would stay again for sure.
Walked through the RV park to the river and everything was clean and inviting.

We are staying at Longhorn for five days. Being from Ohio, the scenery from the ranch was absolutely breathtaking! We are staying in a fifth- wheel, and we have a site right next to the river. I have to say, I have never seen anything like this! Our campsite is accommodated with a fire pit, electrical/water hookup, and a picnic table. It is very quiet, and the people are so friendly. They have personal showers that are very clean and well kept. You will see animals such as horses, deer, and prairie dogs. We took a personal fly fishing tour, where our guide, Isaiah Perez, took us to a beautiful, secluded lake to fly fish. You wear waders and you fish in the middle of a lake. It was very fun, and together, the four of us caught about fifteen fish. It was half a day, and you get to take a little nature walk to get to and from the lake. We truly loved our stay and hope to come back again soon!

When we decided to go north in mid-November, before the blizzards made it more difficult, we happened on a great find. Pretty much in the middle of nowhere, there are quaint and clean little cabin-rooms that hark back to the sixties. Two comfy single beds, a tiny but well equipped kitchenette, gratis basic breakfast and very accommodating hosts. Only down side might be the lack of chests/drawers to stow your clothing if you happen to be staying for three+ days. While there is a dearth of motels between Casper and Yellowstone, and this one might not be considered a destination resort, I would definitely recommend a trip any time of year -- when it's not storming. It appears that quite a few vacationers visit this location during peak season and the proximity of other families could cause a noisy stay. However, if you are an early/late fisherman or a fall hunter, look no further! Across from the resort there is a conservation area which houses 900 big horn sheep. The srrounding area is home to wolves and even grizzlies. If you persevere you might even catch a brown trout on the property of the motel and trailer park.
There's a well stocked fly shop "downtown," Marlow's, and fly fishing guides should you need some help with local conditions.
