We just came back from yet another extremely enjoyable trip to Lava Mountain Lodge. This place never disappoints and we go back as often as possible. The rooms and lodge are clean and well maintained. The food is always excellent. The staff are incredibly freindly and helpful. There are numerous scenic mountain areas to go fish, hike, and just take in. You have modern ammenities- satelite TV, wireless internet, and more. Yet, you get the "out west feel". Love this place!

Room Tip: We like the basic Grizzly Cabins and the upstairs lodge rooms. We usually eat at the lodge and have...

Charlie is the man. I had the Wild West sandwich that he recommended. My fiance has the pulled pork BBQ sandwich. Both meals were very good and had more than enough food to fill our stomachs. The establishment was very clean too.Everyone was very friendly Thanks guys for a good meal!

We had a long weekend in October and wanted to spend our time someplace we love to go and introduce other family members to it. It was another absolutely GREAT stay! We always have soooo much fun at Lava Mtn Lodge. Our family members had a wonderful time too. We were able to ATV, shoot, explore, and just hang out around a campfire. We LOVE this place! Our family members now love this place too. The accomodations were good for young (Grizzly cabin) and old alike (lodge rooms). I think we're going to have to try out the world renowned snowmobiling here this winter. The staff are consistently hospitable and just plain wonderful to us and others who stay here. Who doesn't want to come to a place that acts pleased that you've arrived? That's why we return as often as we possibly can.

Room Tip: We like the upper level lodge rooms for the beautiful views.

Lava is one of my favorite destinations near YNP. This is my family's third visit and once again we have received outstanding service from all the staff. We especially enjoy visiting with Aaron and Nikki and James. They always mingle with the crowd to ensure everyone gets their needs met and has a great time. In addition, their hospitality and generosity are above and beyond any place we have previously visited. We prefer to stay in the Grizzly cabins and we have always enjoyed a relaxing visit with beautiful views and smiles all around. The restaurant cooks up amazing meals with a western yet gourmet flare. The bar has everything you could want and more. I recommend this resort for those looking for superb service and outdoor recreation or those just needing some relaxation.

Room Tip: They have a variety of accommodations to choose from.

I've stayed here multiple times over the past several years. This is one of the places I most look forward to staying at each year. Some years I make it here two or three times. It was a suprising treasure to find. Since then, I have come to find the location incredible, the staff accomodating and friendly (the owner actually introduced himself and asked how the stay was- rare these days), the grizzly cabins very comfortable, and the food is AWESOME!!!!! The food is so good that I buy two orders. One to eat in the restaurant and one to put in the cooler and take home. I recommend the smoked brisquet! I LOVE THIS PLACE!

LavaMntLodge, Manager at Lava Mountain Lodge, responded to this reviewResponded 29 May 2012

We at Lava Mountain Lodge apologize for any negative experience while staying with us. Lava Mountain Lodge strives to make every stay an enjoyable guest experience. The family that submitted the above review of our property has misstated some facts about our Big House Vacation Rental Cabin and neglected to let our viewers know that they requested No Housekeeping Services during their stay. We have since posted signage within the home that we must perform certain daily house keeping tasks when large groups or families stay with us for sanitary reasons. We advertise the fact that our Big House Vacation Rental Cabin is a Rustic Log Home originally built in the 1940's as a typical Wyoming Ranch House from the era. The Big House is a beautiful large log home with two bathrooms and additional bathroom facilities in our main lodge building. Our staff is in the home almost daily and have never experienced a foul odor with in the home as we steam clean the carpets on a regular schedule and sanitize the facility as part of our daily housekeeping duties. The home's interior was remodeled and painted in April of 2011 and has an updated, fresh new look and feel. Although we do not feel that our towels would more likely be used to clean the floors we have replaced them as we do throughout the property regularly. We are a small rustic mountain resort with a staff that is housed on the property and connected to our guests on a daily basis. Lava Mountain Lodge regrets the fact that no members of our staff were made aware of the above mentioned issues during the family's stay as there may have been a remedy provided.
