This completely remodeled 100 year old Inn is a true find. Susan is a Cordon Bleu trained chef and the meals in the restaurant were sublime! I'm hesitant to give this the recommendation it deserves, because I will have to fight all of you for Reservations! Definitely get a reservation soon. This is a little out of the way but makes a great romantic get-away for a couple or a girl's weekend away! There is little else around but beautiful scenery in the Snowy range and lots of history and geologic interest. Great base for hiking and exploring or visiting the Saratogo Hot Springs. Susan and Arthur have maintained the history and the Victorian feel while upgrading all of the amenities! Definitely will return for lots of visits with friends for wine tasting or culinary adventure.

Again...on our trip back from Louisville, KY (USA Cycling Masters National Championships...Patty won her 4th National Championship!) Patty and I were rewarded (again!) with fabulous food, service, and lodging! Susan is absolutely on a roll....with great food, great choices, and superior presentation and wines! What a place in the mid-eastern section of Wyoming!!! We are on schedule to return in September for a little mountain biking and more wonderful food, wine, and service!!!! This is a definitely "Don't Miss" experience!!!! To Susan and Arthur: See you in September as the racing season ends and winter has yet to arrive.... Looking forward to Buffalo Steaks and the wonderful Flatiron steak among the many great choices!!!!
9 hours from Sun Valley, ID......2.5 days from Louisville, Ky!!!! Worth every mile and more!

A wonderful place to escape to from the bustle and stress of Denver. Peaceful. Quiet. Wonderful restaurant.

Catering to the individual with exemplary service and personalized style!
The location of this property is spectacular! Nestled along the Medicine Bow River the Historic Elk Mountain Hotel sits within a towering grove of cottonwood trees. The backdrop for this turn of the century retreat is Elk Mountain soaring to 11,652 feet above sea level. A variety of wildlife can be seen as you travel the scenic three miles south of interstate 80, antelope abound as well as both white tail and mule deer. Susan and Arthur welcome all of their guests as if they’re a relative they’ve been anxiously awaiting, eager to make you feel at home and enthusiastic about sharing the relaxing atmosphere of both the hotel and the surrounding area. My husband and I have chosen to visit the Historic Elk Mountain Hotel frequently. It is truly a superb experience; one we highly recommend.

We live about 90 minutes from Elk Mountain, in Colorado. We frequent the hotel every few months for wonderful meals, great wine and a romantic evening. Susan, the chef and owner never disappoints with a marvelous meal. Susan & Arthur go out of their way to make our stays special and personal. If you have a special request, if you let them know in advance they make sure it is met. Once in awhile they do special events of Beer Pairing, Wine Pairing and Whiskey pairing dinners, a great time to try something new. Food allergies are never a problem if you let Susan know in advance. We have grown very fond of this as a quick get-away and of Susan & Arthur. Keep in mind this is a historical hotel and enjoy the charm rather than find fault with it.
