“Wonderful Stay at a Beautiful Hotel!”
Reviewed 11 April 2012

We stayed here for one night in late March 2012. My husband and I were on a weekend away form the kids and booked the king whirlpool suite. We were in room 312 and it was quiet and clean. The whirlpool worked wonderfully and the bed was super comfortable. I would definitely stay here again. This was one of the cheapest places in town for a king whirlpool suite, but it was gorgeous. Room came with a bar sink and kitchenette type deal with a mini fridge, but we didn't use that. Again, just an overall perfect stay. We did eat breakfast before leaving on Sunday morning and there was a hot continental breakfast with many choices. Again, a wonderful stay. Thanks Country Inn and Suites for helping make our couples weekend a GREAT time!

Room Tip: 312-King Whirlpool Suite---far enough away from the pool area!

Upon arrival, the hotel had no record of my booking, OR confirmation number. I was in a panic and ready to do battle, but the manager quickly diffused the situation by not only finding me a room (on a completely booked weekend all over town), but by offering the same rate as the rest of the group and offering the kids cookies and a place to sit while the grown ups worked out the arrangements. He was kind and helpful.
The room was large, comfortable and reasonably quite. (The entire hotel was packed with 10 year old boys for a state hockey tournament, how quiet could it be?!) The waterpark was a huge hit, clean and large. The morning breakfast provided a good mix of hot and cold options, and it seemed the lobby had a never ending supply of delicious cookies (the caramel chocolate ones were uh-maze-zing!). Gillette, WY isn't exactly a destination hot spot, but we will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Good idea to shy away from rooms on the 1st floor near the waterpark... Room numbers on that end ar...

Overall this property is very nice. The rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, breakfast was fine, staff was capable and pleasant. Just two caveats really - the first is this hotel's dramatically substandard quality tissues and toilet paper. Perhaps this is a new costcutting measure, but at the expense of customer satisfaction. Management's response to this comment in a survey was just a standard canned reply. At their room rates they can certainly afford to take better care of their customers.
The other issue was the cold "hot" tub in the water park that is used by both this hotel and the Fairfield which adjoins it. Country Inn management responded to this by saying that the water park is managed independently - so apparently not their problem? - and suggested that I was complaining about the cost. As a Club Carlson member, use of the water park is free, so cost was not an issue, but the unwillingness to address the coldness of the "hot" tub bothered me. It seems that even if it is managed independently, the hotel's clients use it and the management could do markedly better than to shrug it off as someone else's problem. There is no other hot tub available on the property. A proactive approach to getting this fixed would be far more appropriate in this usually customer-oriented business.
Sour grapes? Not really. Just a very strong dislike for managerial indifference. Would I stay there again? Maybe. But there are other properties in Gillette that are just as nice, at pretty much comparable rates.

Very nice hotel and very clean. Stayed here with my family and I upgraded to the suite which has 2 queen beds and a pull out couch. Lots of room and a big work desk. Very comfortable beds and a good breakfast. It also has a water park connected to the hotel and is free if you are a Club Carlson member. Great location as it is close to shopping and resturants.

We've stayed here twice in the last 3 months, in a standard room and in a suite. Very nice and clean rooms. Beds are very comfortable. Internet is reliable and fast. Breakfast is better than most hotels. Location is convienient to everything in town. Waterpark was out of service during our last stay (broken heater) which was disappointing, though the hot tub was ok. Cozy lobby with cookies and reading library makes it feel comfortable like home. Only one negative issue: Housekeeping seems to clean vacated rooms only early in the morning, so if you sleep in or don't leave your room early they don't return to clean your room, restock towels, coffee and empty trash later for you. We even specifically requested housekeeping at noon on our second day without service and still did not get housekeeping services. So we went to the front desk for towels, toilet paper and coffee packets as needed. Other than our problem with housekeeping during our 3 day stay, it's a good place to stay in Gillette.

We stayed here for one night. We had a two room suite which was nice since there was a TV in the living room area and one in the bedroom area. Very quiet. Good breakfast. Will stay here again.

I stay here every 3 weeks now. Used to stay at the Hampton but the price here is 50.00 cheaper a night and the rooms are 95% as nice as the Hampton. Beds are comfy, rooms are clean. Much quieter than the Hampton as there is no door slamming at 3:00 AM. Breakfast is decent, location is awesome. Plenty of parking. Also have stayed at the adjacent Marriot Fairfield and this place is much nicer. Best value in Gillette as far as I'm concerned. Internet is very fast.

Room Tip: For 10.00 more choose the king suite if you have no kids. Nice Room!
