Wildlife Safari at Spring Creek Ranch - Private Trips

Of course the caveat of this tour is that you have to be staying at Spring Creek Ranch to take it, but if you are, you will not be disappointed! It is also pricey, but if you don't get to this area often it's worth the extra expense. Louise was our guide and she was friendly + knowledgeable. She picked us up at our door, and then we stopped by the front lobby to get coffee & breakfast to go, which was included.

We did the dawn half day Tetons tour, which was a nice introduction to the park. We saw 11 different types of wildlife on the tour, and Louise also provided us some insider tips for both the Tetons & Yellowstone, which proved to be spot on and helpful for the rest of the trip. Binoculars were provided as well as a wildlife sheet.

The other highlight of the tour was that my wife and I were the only two people on the tour! Every other tour we saw out and about was packed with people, so this experience was very personalized.

This trip was beautiful, our guide Kurt (the resident naturalist) was so knowledgeable and personable is was not just lots of fun for the adults but the kids (ages6-9) were having a blast as well. we saw big horn sheep within 2 feet, bison, elk and moose! It was definitely a trip to remember.

We did the dual trip. Wildlife in the am and scenic raft trip in the afternoon. Great trip through Teton National Park with Jason as he picked us up at the Rustic Inn. About a four hour trip capped off with coolest pictures of Great Horned Owls with their young in 2 different locations. On the scnic raft trip filmed and photographed breeding pairs of Bald Eagles. Too Cool. Great Hosts. Totally great day.

We were expecting Kurt as our naturalist but instead took our safari with Becca, who was very friendly and knowledgeable as well. We had a great time, as noted in the review above, my only gripe is that I found the cost to be a bit expensive. We learned some great tidbits...but maybe we were just lucky that we were able to spot as much wildlife on our own as we did during the safari. Still...if you are looking for insight/knowedge into the natural beauty and animals in the surrounding area, this is a great way to learn about them.

The Dusk Wildlife Safari with Kurt was a major highlight of our visit to Jackson Hole last August. Spring Creek Ranch REALLY has a special program - Kurt is an incredibly gifted naturalist. He took us out for 4 hours and we saw some amazing animals up close and through the state-of-the-art binoculars he provided. He has such an expansive knowledge of wildlife, plants, geology, etc.

We saw moose, coyote, pronghorn, elk, muledeer, tons of bison (up close), all sorts of exotic birds, and much more. He also took a picture of us at sunset in front of a beautiful historic farmhouse. This was a GREAT time!!! Definitely make sure to do this!

My husband enjoyed it so much that we booked an all-day tour of Yellowstone with the Teton Science School after this. (We called Teton Science School instead of going through Spring Creek Ranch because we were seeking a geology tour.) It was terrible. The guide didn't have even a fraction of Kurt's knowledge. She was reading from a book the whole time - embarassing. The Teton Science School trip was about $300 for each of us. Yikes.

Don't miss the opportunity to do the safari with Kurt. It is really something special.
