We had the first two nights of our holiday here in late May and I have to say I really loved this place. Our room was on the ground floor in the courtyard building. The main building where the reception is looks newly renervated with a nice lobby and a place upstairs where you have breakfast which was also lovely and clean and new looking. The breakfast included all the usual continental items and set us up for the day. We met Grover on our first morning who is the resident photographer and a charming gentleman who kindly showed us many of his wonderful wildlife photos and gave me some tips on where to go to see the animals. Our room was extreamly spacious and clean with two queen beds and all the amenities we could really want. I loved the vanity area adjacent to the bathroom, it was really well layed out.
I think the rooms, staff and general friendliness of the Trapper Inn are of a very high standard, the location is right in town within walking distance to all the shops and restaurants, it really is a very convienient and comfortable place to stay.

Worth noting, I can only speak for the 2 room suites at the Trapper. The regular rooms are in different buildings entirely - the suites buildings appear much newer. Rooms were clean, service was decent. Local recommendation advice at the front desk was good. Less sure about the capability of their accounting/tracking system - we had billing problems, so get everything in writing. Photos of the pool on the Trapper website must've been taken from a crane with one wall removed from the pool "hut." Whirlpool is fine, pool is very small. No gouging for free wi-fi a big plus. Downtown Jackson location also a big plus. Better than average continental breakfast. It's no bargain, but you get what you pay for (and Jackson ain't cheap) and I do recommend the Trapper.

We spent 4th of July weekend at the Trapper Inn with our 2 yo. It's your basic motel room- nothing fancy- but very clean. We stayed in a two room suite. Sitting room was on the smaller side- bedroom was large. We wanted a king sized bed, but apparently they only offer suites with two queens. We used their pack n' play for our son- it was clean and I was happy with it. Be sure to bring your own PNP sheet- they only provide regular linens.

Staff was very friendly and eager to help in any way. They were helpful with restaurant suggestions, directions, etc.

Indoor pool was small, but was fine for our toddler.

Location was excellent. We could walk all around town and to the fireworks.

Overall we were happy with our stay and would definitely recommend it.

The Bad News: We had a King room with a courtyard view (which was actually the parking lot), a tiny TV, a neighbor who smoked outside our room in the evening, & we paid a rate of $200+ even with the AAA discount. It looked like a motel which was "cleaned up," so I hope this wasn't one of the newly renovated rooms. The Good News: Really nice staff, huge comfortable King-size bed & fairly good breakfast offerings. We found a better deal & room at another hotel on our way back through Jackson.

Stayed 3 nights while visiting Jackson Hole and the Teaton National Park. Stayed in a fireplace room with a king bed in the new section of the property. The hotel seems to have very capable staff and enough to cover the activity. Theyare helpful and friendly and seem to care about the service they provide...which is uncommon today.
The breakfast is more than adequate, clean, and constantly attended to provide a nice experience. The hotel has a nature photographer and wildlife guied who will assist you during the breakfast hour answering questions and providing recommended sites to see wildlife in the Teaton National Park. Don't miss the boat trip across Jenny Lake and the walk to Inspiration Point overlooking the lake.
I highly recommend the Bar J Ranch dinner and show. 32 years in business and serve up to 700 per evening. After dinner the show lasts about 90 minutes. This is located about 12 minutes from the hotel on the road to Jackson Hole Ski slopes. Priced about $24 and it will be the best money spent. Open Memorial weekend for 4 months, 7 nights a week. A family operation with very talented members.
I have no affiliation with the hotel or the Bar J Ranch but leave this message because we has such a pleasent experience at both.

After searching high and low for a nice (and economical) "ski package" to Jackson Hole, we couldn't pass up what The Trapper Inn offered. We were able to get our room, ski passes and bus passes all from The Trapper Inn, and it worked out perfectly. It surpassed every expectation we had. You definitely don't need to rent a car if you are staying at this hotel b/c it is so close to the town square and b/c the bus system is so easy to figure out. The staff was incredibly friendly and wanted to our stay to be the best (especially George!). They even gave us a free upgrade to a suite due to construction (which we never actually heard). The photos of the pool and hot tub don't do it justice. We loved getting into the clean and nice (though small) pools after a day of skiing. We ate breakfast at the hotel every morning, and everything was always clean, hot and fully stocked. We would highly recommend this hotel (especially if you want a great ski package) to anyone, and we hope we are able to return one day!
