We booked this hotel months ago for a one-night stay, in between West Yellowstone & Twin Falls. Of course this was when the US shutdown resulted in the National Parks closing; our raison d'etre for being in Jackson with Yellowstone a stone's throws away.

We had left West Yellowstone the previous day, having been changing our holiday plans (read Best Western bookings) on a day-by-day basis in the hope that we would get inside some National Parks. The Wort was one that we simply couldn't change, without forfeiting the room cost for the night.

When we arrived we were so glad that change hadn't been an option for us. Immediately you walk into reception the ambience and decour sooth & welcome you, with the wide staircase in front of you and the open fire a little further on.

The reception staff were excellent and when it transpired that the original double room we had been booked into wasn't ready yet, we were offered a suite instead!

The suite was lovely with a huge, high double bed adorned with cushions and a large stuffed black bear. The in-room amenities were second-to-none, with a couch, comfortable chair, local magazines and a decent coffee machine. The free Wi-Fi was welcome and unexpected as some of the more 'upmarket' hotels tend to charge for this service.

The upshot being that we asked what the price would be to extend our stay in the suite for a night, and were told that we could have it for the same price as the double we had originally booked. So of course we were delighted to stay but helped, it has to be said, by Yellowstone opening the next day. That said, we probably would have stayed anyway!

We had stayed in Jackson before in 2010, in the old BW a couple of miles towards Teton Village but the Wort is slap bang in the centre of town; you couldn't ask for a better location in Jackson.

With the opening of Yellowstone (and other NPs we later visited) and the quality of the Wort, this turned from what could have been a disappointing stopover, into one of the highlights of our 3-week holiday and we will definitely be coming back to Jackson and the Wort in particular.

We can heartily recommend the Silver Dollar Bar on the premises with good value food and a great IPA!

The 12-hour drive to Lake Tahoe the next day, over an icy Teton Pass at 8am and -5C, was our penance for the additional night's stay but it was worth it.

We spent three nights at the Wort Hotel and enjoyed every moment. The staff were very friendly and committed to seeing that we enjoyed our stay. Our room was very comfortable with a warm and cozy decor. We enjoyed the Silver Dollar pub's food and live music on Tuesday night. The bar is a "must see" with over 2000 Morgan Silver dollars embedded into its top. The bartender made sure the bar top was captured in a picture of us. Will absolutely stay here again on a future visit to Jackson Hole.

I've stayed at the Wort multiple times throughout the summer and had a great experience every time. The service at the is beyond excellent. The front desk staff, concierge, and bell service all greeted me by name upon my 2nd stay which was very impressive. Don't expect much of a view from the rooms considering the location and history of the hotel. The only negative thing is on one of my stays I had a room above the bar and that night they had a live band. Despite that my experience has been great. I look forward to staying here again.

The Wort is in the perfect location in the center of town. It offers impeccable service, lovely, comfortable rooms and all the little extras that make a stay so special: outstanding towels, pillows and duvets, a coffeemaker, magazines, free internet, bathrobes.... The big W brand is omnipresent and reminds visitors that this hotel is a true landmark and steeped in tradition and Western history.

Breakfast was outstanding with great service and delicious food. We look forward to our next return!

Room Tip: Higher Floor, away from Main Streer traffic.

We spent four nights at the Wort catching the autumn colours in Grand Teton and enjoyed every moment. This hotel has a presence and its history is proudly displayed on the walls. From the grand staircase at the entrance, the furniture in the rooms, the service, and everything between, this was a fine place to call home for a few nights.

The Silver Dollar Bar suited us so well we ate there every night. There was rarely an empty table and the food was excellent. Not gourmet, but excellently done.

The staff looked after us well and little touches such as remembering our names, commenting on our bags and offering umbrellas in the rain made all the difference.

The cost is relatively high but for a few nights we were glad to spend the money.

What a wonderful old west feeling hotel. We stayed here (me,wife, and my brother) in mid sept. 2013. We stayed in the grand teton suite on the second floor. The suite is more like two rooms with a connecting door than a traditional suite. (no living room or kitchen). this worked out just fine for us as we had our own room, bath area. Our room had a large poster bed in it with all wooded furniture. Lots of attention to detail here. (Look closely at the woodwork). Brothers room had a bar area with queen size bed. Every thing you need is here in the rooms Soaps, shampoos, iron, bathrobes, coffe maker, Plenty of plugs to charge your batteries or use your electronic devises. Hair dryer, plenty of counter space and lots of extra room.

The hotel is located just off the main street two stores from town square.Walking distance to shops,restauarnts,activities.ect... Has a self gated parking area if no spots in front of the hotel are available (we had to use on one day) Check in went smooth , bellman helped with the luggage to the elevator somewhat down the hall. Everyone was friendly always greeted us with a smile and asked if they could help with anything. The wood detail here is amazing and throughout the hotel, bar, and restaurant. The basement has a workout room (did not use) as well as two hot tubs that i did use. The area comes complete with change/rest rooms shower area . There were plenty of towels and good ones i should add. (most pool areas have cheep towels)

I loved all the old pictures on the walls and the stories with them. We did use the silver dollar bar/grill and liked it. I will do another review on that latter. On our 9 day vacation in the area this was the undisputed best choice for us. I would not hesitate to stay here again. I would highly rec. it for you too..................

Room Tip: There is no pool here only hot tub. The suites are more spacious than regular rooms

I stayed at The Wort this past winter when my mom came to visit. She is known for her impossibly exacting standards, and luckily this place fit the bill perfectly. It's situated conveniently within walking distance of most of Jackson's restaurants and shops, staffed by some wonderful local talent, and plushly accommodated. The fireplaces were always roaring and there was often an offering of warm cookies and hot beverages in the common areas. Luxurious without being snotty.
