We had reservations at a different hotel and after reading reviews of the Wort decided to cancel those and book at the Wort!! Upon arriving, I thought "narrow one way street" = problem parking!! Young man came out, asked if we were checking in, unloaded our van, lead us to check in, brought bags to room, told us to just call if we need the van, answered our questions and was off. The room was large, oh so comfortable, had a western motif and was just what we wanted. We went to get our van, it was retrieved from parking for us in minutes and when we returned we were greeted by name - in fact every time we saw a hotel employee they seemed to remember our names. Couldn't say more about this wonderful hotel and it's employees!! Stayed 3 nights and wish we could go back again for longer!!

When looking for a base to explore the Grand Tetons before proceding to Yellowstone, Jackson was the obvious choice. In on-line reviews, The Wort stands out as the hotel with the most history and character and we were not disappointed with our choice.
Our premium king bed room was very spacious including a Chesterfield lounge and 2 singles, the only slight downside being a single small window but this is not unexpected in a 70 year old building, albeit fully refurbished quite recently. The lobby and public areas are delightful with grand staircase and stone fireplaces with the mandatory (?) moose head provide great atmosphere. The famous Silver Dollar bar (incorporating over 2000 real coins) was a great place to hang out and enjoy some traditional Country & Western live music.
Staff at reception and the bar/restaurant were uniformly friendly and happy to offer advice to us about local attractions.
Our 4 nights at the Wort was definitely one of the highlights of our Rockies/Tetons/Yellowstone road trip.

After spending two weeks in the Tetons and Yellowstone we pulled into Jackson Hole with NO RESERVATION. Parked in the middle of town, walked around from shop to shop, a few art galleries, considering where we might stay for our last night, since we were flying back to NY the next morning. I wanted some place comfortable but not too expensive and close to the middle of town, which probably was asking too much. I remembered reading somewhere that there was one very unique and historic hotel in town but couldn't remember the name of it for the life of me. Knowing it was in the heart of Jackson Hole somewhere I knew we'd walk into it eventually. The Wort Hotel sits a block off Broadway, figuring it wasn't in my budget but a must see all the same, we walked inside. We were greeted in the lobby immediately by a nice women who explained the history of the hotel to us and then offered to show us a room that was reduced from $350 a night to $230 or close to it. It was still beyond my last day budget but the room blew us away. After spending 2 weeks in the woods, this room looked like shangri la western style. Huge king size bed, large flat screen, hi-fi, wireless, great western art on the walls, large bathroom, western carvings on the door, each room had a unique one. The lobby is just as nice with wild life trophies , fireplace, sofas, art, historic photos and artifacts. The room was available for the night but it might not last the day. Still $230 was twice what I wanted to spend. After a little discussion with the wife, we took it and they upgraded us to a suite. SWEET! Great Hotel, great service, great bar. Food isn't the best in the west but the hotel might be.We listened to a great band at the bar, had a couple of beers and I got lucky that night. What more can a guy ask for. No regrets coyote.

We stayed 2 nights in a Deluxe 1K room. The room wasn't exactly spacious. The King bed frame was very large and there was a narrow alley way between the large bed and large TV armoire and there wasn't much space around the bathroom sink. But the decor was very nice. Our room was next to a stairwell and the cleaning staff room so it was quite loud with slamming doors and clanging silverware. The room wasn't cheap but I justified it by getting a discount with Expedia and that it was right downtown.
Great location in Jackson. Enjoyed having the silver dollar bar just downstairs. Had soup and salad in the bar one night - was good. Had breakfast in the restaurant one day - good but alot of food!

Tiny rooms, awkwardly arranged, no comfortable chair and reading light, tiny bathroom with no space for toiletries, no grab bar for safety at tub, thin walls and noise! unworkable phone system. unhelpful staff and petty additional charges. Very disappointing stay at what was to be a special historic property. Dreary restaurant.
