We loved this museum which featured wonderful depictions of wildlife in an art form, together with some wonderful sculptures, paintings and photographs. The standard of the exhibits are truly excellent and it was a pleasure to spend time in this museum.

We visited on a snowy late October morning and were entertained for several hours. We were lucky to have a wonderful docent that spent a bout 1 hour explaining the art and the artists to the four of us. Her knowledge and passion added much to our experience.

The Museum itself is a work of art and the art was very interesting, this is a must see exhibit even for those that might not consider themselves the "art museum type".

Before you even step foot into the building the NMWA has left an indelible impression. Situated across from, and well above, the National Elk Wildlife Preserve outside Jackson, the building conforms to the immediate landscape from which large sculptures of native flora and fauna appear as you arrive in the parking lot.

It is a deceptively large collection and site. Plan to spend several hours in the galleries and many tens of dollars in the very well-appointed gift shop. It's a great way to bring home a classy "taste of the West."

From the outside with all of the bronze sculpture, it looks like it might be a risky use of time due to potentially being cheesy. However, what’s inside is REAL ART, and real history. This is one of the must do activities, but our children ages 8 and 11 got pretty impatient. This is really set up for adults and teens, and you need to carve out a few hours to see this.
