Bring warm cloths, positive attitude, good field glasses and cameras. The NER is located north of Jackson, WY along USRT89 and is accessible through the Jackson Visitor Center. Busses depart every 20-30min, tickets are ca $20/person. After a short bus drive visitors are transferred into sleights and ferried by local cowboys into the Refuge. Our guide, though young in age, was quite knowledgeable of the Refuge, the animals, their habitat and life - thus he made our outing both enjoyable and fun. Monet well spent!!

A must- do for winter visitors. The elk and surrounding foothills are beautiful, as are the other sleighs and horses. The tour is very well organized. We literally stepped right from the shuttle bus onto our sleigh. The drivers are very knowledgable and interesting and give you time to get amazing photos. Do dress warmly. A significant breeze blows through the valley.

In winter you travel through the snow in a horse drawn wagon which is ignored by the elk. You get very close to them and can watch and photograph them at close quarters.

Seeing the elk in the winter is a real treat. Don't miss the "back road" on the other side of the reserve. The park employee told us about it. Go past the hospital in Jackson and continue. You'll see better views and probably more wildlife (bighorn sheep, elk, bison).

David was our guide and was very knowledgeable not only about the elk but the eco systems and other animals. It would be a shame to visit the area and not see this. All money spent at the Elk Center helps the cause .
