“Great drive. Visitor Center very nice too!”
Reviewed 22 June 2014

We have driven through the refuge once. Nice drive, although I wouldn't take a low riding car due to the rough road. Old log homes on the property are for Rangers who work there. The refuge does not host many trees or plants but rather, is mostly grassland good for the Elk.

“Protection for Elk from winter”
Reviewed 21 June 2014

We did not see any Elk - maybe because all are back to wild where they should be in summer months. There are simple information board and radio dial for you to get more information if you like.

“ELK”
Reviewed 19 June 2014

I was there many years ago. It was bitterly cold, but they still fed the elk for us to watch from the horse drawn sleigh. Very enjoyable and picturesque.

“Elk refuge”
Reviewed 16 June 2014

The ELk had left the refuge for the summer but the scenery is amazing and a stop at the visitors center is a must to get the story behind the refuge. Also a visit on the other side of the refuge of a homestead is open to the public free of charge and is worth the visit for the scenery alone.

“Great place to see wildlife!”
Reviewed 14 June 2014

Our recent trip to Jackson included a lot of time looking for wildlife to photograph. The National Elk Refuge was a great place to look! We saw elk, pronghorn, buffalo and bighorn sheep.
