We just got back from a long weekend at the Rusty Parrot, and I couldn't have been more impressed! The lodge is beautiful, all warm wood and cozy overstuffed leather. Make sure you check out the hot tub on the upstairs deck and the reading room adjacent, which has a warm fire and great apple cider. Definitely have a dinner at Wild Sage as well -- the food is amazing, local, and fresh (I recommend the elk), and you get a great view of the two chefs working in perfect unison in their small open kitchen. The rooms were nice, as expected, but the little details made our stay more memorable: stuffed teddy bears hidden around the room every day by the housekeepers, great chocolates at turn-down, nightly poems, L'Occitane toiletries. And the coup de grace was the service -- everyone at the hotel was genuinely friendly, helpful, and interested in making our stay enjoyable. It's hard to quantify this, but you know it when you get it, and it put our stay over the top.

The staff was great, as was our room. The rose left in our room on Valentines Day was a nice touch. My husband and I fought over the amazing chocolates left at the nightly turndown. I've never stayed in a cleaner hotel accept for maybe a Four Seasons! Our dinner at The Wild Sage restaurant was outstanding. A job well done.

After extensive research, we chose the Rusty Parrot for our honeymoon. Right from the time we arrived, we were blown away with the quality of service we received. Every single hotel employee was polite, charming, happy to chat, forthcoming with suggestions and ideas, willing with information, and most of all, patient with a pair from Australia who don't really understand how or when to tip. Given that we probably did it wrong every time, the quality of their service never faltered, and is a credit to the standards that the Rusty Parrot has in place.

The room was lovely (we had a king room on the 3rd floor) as part of the 'Powder Package', the facilities were excellent (loved the L'Occitane toiletries) but it was the little touches that made the difference - warm cookies after skiing, self service tea bar, boiling hot hot-tub and a turn down service that included a daily poem and chocolate toffees.

Ed drove us to the mountain and back most days, and was funny, kind and full of ideas for us to do après ski. Lynn at the front desk has the best 'can do' attitude and the valets that helped us everyday were always willing to chat.

The Wild Sage restaurant is incredibly expensive for the quality of food, but (apart from 1 passive aggressive waitress we had at breakfast) all of the servers are brilliant and very professional. The same goes for the Spa - it is expensive for what the treatments are, but the staff were brilliant and that's what you are paying for.

The Rusty Parrot is a pricey option, but if we ever make it back to Jackson, we will definitely stay there again. A big thanks to all that made our stay so wonderful!

We just returned about 10 days ago and we booked the powder package. We got a beautiful king room (second floor as recommended, not first floor), full gourmet breakfast for two and lift tickets for two, plus shuttles back and forth to the mountain which is about 20 minutes away. There is a jacuzzi for after skiing and coffee, tea and cookies at 4:30. We also watched the Super Bowl in their bar area and received free bison nachos during the game. Cost $255 per night. We basically got the room for free. It is only a few blocks from downtown, very charming, and the restaurant is one of the nicest in town. They also have a complete spa in an adjacent building if that is what interests you. You may have anything from the menu for breakfast and its fantastic. Lynn at the front desk drove our party of 6 back and forth each day and was a delight. The other people there were great too. The place is a class act. They try to accomodate your every need. A great place to stay. Recommend staying in town versus the mountain. Just our preference.

Other places for dinner:

1. Snake River Grill - one of our favorites. Very woody and high end
2. Local- all fresh ingredients
3. Snake River Brew Pub- casual and fun.

Room Tip: Second or third floor.

We spent a great Christmas skiing in Jackson as a family of 5 with 3 teenage/adult kids. Preferred staying in town rather at Teton resort as could easily wander round the shops and visit local restaurants by foot in the evening. Free transfers daily to the slopes.

Rusty Parrot has a small scale, non-corporate feel. Lovely dining room with fire and antler chandeliers where we had breakfasts and three high quality dinners. Small upstairs library with a fire we used for playing cards over drinks.

Rooms were a reasonable size with all essentials provided. Staff very friendly.

Only negative was airport taxi we'd asked to be booked failed to arrive at 5am on the day we left. However, the night watchman dug out the hotel car keys from the office and took us there himself.

I performed extensive research on Jackson hotels and loved the Rusty Parrot. High end hotel in every way with service well beyond the majority of choices. Kind of a smaller Four Seasons with equivalent service. Multiple front desk & dining room personnel went out of their way to help us on different needs. Particularly loved the upstairs deck hot tub where we were able to look up to the stars and a full moon. Pricey but we'll worth the price.
