“Meh...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 March 2014

Best thing I can say is that the service was quick and attentive. The food was rather bland and uninspiring just like the decor of the restaurant. Not a busy place... sounds like we didn't get the memo in time.

“Highly regarded... for good reason”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 March 2014

If you want to eat here get your reservations as soon as you decide you are going to Jackson. It is top notch. The service was outstanding, the food was scrumptious. The Caesar was as good as a salad can be. The Tenderloins were done to perfection. It's a bit on the pricey side but worth every dollar.

“An excellent and memorable dining experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 March 2014

My wife and I dined here during a 10-day ski trip to Jackson Hole. Getting a reservation was not easy - we ended up booking through Open Table for a Tuesday, 4 days in advance, and we received at least one e-mail from the restaurant asking us to reconfirm. But given the high demand - I rode up the lift with one guy who was completely unable to get a reservation - this is understandable. We shared a Belgian endive, blue cheese and walnut salad to start and then also split the elk chop and the buffalo cowboy ribeye steak, a massive 16 ounces of dry-aged bison grilled to perfection, and the fried Brussels sprouts. The salad and the elk chop were merely excellent, while the bison steak and sprouts were sublime. My wife had two glasses of an unfiltered Italian sparkling wine (not Prosecco, but similar), while I had a Woodford Bourbon Manhattan, which was outstanding, not overly sweet and allowing the flavor of the bourbon to shine through. I follwed this with a glass of Erath Oregon pinot noir, also very good. For dessert we shared a chocolate souffle with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The service was highly professional - not overly obtrusive but we didn't have to spend 10 minutes trying to flag our server's attention.

The only negative was the neighboring table, seating 6 or 7 people engaged in a sales presentation, complete with PowerPoint presentation on an iPad. The only thing lacking was a microphone and laser pointer. I'm aware that lots of business is transacted in fancy restaurants, but these folks went a step or 3 too far and should have reserved a conference room at the Holiday Inn for their presentation (or a private room at the restaurant, should they have one available).

I pointed this out to the manager of the restaurant, and he was very apologetic, saying the group had sprung this without advance warning. The restaurant ended up not charging us for the souffle, which I hadn't requested, but which came as a welcome goodwill gesture.

The Snake River Grill is a must-visit if you are in Jackson and can get a reservation. We spent $220 inclusive of tip and tax, which is not cheap, but I did not mind paying that kind of money for the quality of dining experience we enjoyed. It is possible to get away without spending quite so much - the elk and bison were the most expensive main dishes on the menu, at $54 and $59, respectively, and there are plenty of other choices in the $30-40 range.

“Not worth the hype - go elsewhere!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 March 2014

Given the hype, the food and service was very disappointing. We had the same food elsewhere in Jackson that was much better. The service was cordial and cold, not friendly like the rest of the town. Not worth the $$ spent.
