Description: Rich in history, Jackson Hole’s first chuck wagon adventure, the Bar T-5 began in 1974 by giving people a chance to step back and experience a time gone by, a time when they traveled by horse drawn covered wagons. Now you can join us at the Bar T-5 and make your own Western History. Climb aboard a horse drawn covered wagon just as they did in the early days of Jackson Hole for an adventure unlike any other. You’ll experience an evening filled with great Western Hospitality.Traveling along a clear mountain stream, you’ll follow a winding trail into the tall timber of the Bridger-Teton National Forest to a camp in the heart of the canyon. Watch out there may be surprises along the way, after all this is the West! Arriving at camp the wagons are circled and the aroma of a Cowboy style Dutch oven dinner greets you. Enjoy our home cooked BBQ Chicken, Roast Beef in Gravy, our famous Bar T 5 Beans and more. After dinner you can sit back and relax to the sounds of music and laughter as our cowboys take the stage. Enjoy the harmony of The Bar T 5 Band bringing your favorite cowboy songs to life! With Guitars, Fiddles and Fun for all, you’ll find yourself joining in throughout the night. The evening ends as the wagons head home from a place and time you’ll never forget.....The Bar T-5 Covered Wagon Cookout & Show. We are close by, located just 1 ½ miles SE of downtown Jackson. The wagons are ready to roll evenings, Monday through Saturday, mid-May through the end of September. The evening lasts about 3 hours. At camp you are under a covered pavilion that is heated if necessary. Reservations are requested. To find out more about how to join us and make your own Western History please give us a call.

“A "old west" family evening”

A very entertaining trip on the wagons to dinner in the "woods". The buffet-style dinner was very good. Their little variety show was fun. A good alternative to another restaurant dinner when you're traveling with kids.

“Chuck Wagon Delight”
Reviewed 27 August 2013 via mobile

For the family adventure of a lifetime, I recommend the Bar T 5. My wife and I had our youngest son, his wife and their two kids ages 9 & 6 in Jackson Hole for a week and chose this Chuck Wagon Dutch Oven cookout and are really glad we did. Starts with a Covered Wagon ride up a dusty trail along side of Cache Creek. These Covered Wagons are very similar to the ones used by the pioneers when the crossed the country and are pulled by a team of draft horses. Half way to the campsite we were ___________!!! Going to leave that for the surprise that it actually is. Upon arriving at the campsite we were rounded-up and herded to the chuck wagon for a truly great dinner. Food menu is limited but the quality is excellent. If you have never had a meal prepared in a cast iron dutch oven then you are in for a real treat. Eat all you want until they run out. After dinner there is entertainment with local musicians who will entertain you with old-time Cowboy songs. Do not be surprised if you are plucked out of the audience to assist with the show. They have two trips per evening and we chose the late one which leaves around 6:30PM and were treated on the ride back with a full moon rising over the mountains.
Highly recommend the Bar T 5.

“A bit hokey but a fun outing for the family”
Reviewed 21 August 2013

We thought it would be fun to take our daughters, 10 and 12, on this "cowboy cookout" to think about what it might have been like to live in the old west and travel on covered wagons. I have to say that the staff at Bar T-5 have their game down! People are directed where to go in a very orderly fashion and even though we felt a bit like cattle being herded, it was fun to learn some history of the area and to ride in the covered wagon to our dinner site. Our driver was very nice and eager to answer any questions our wagon group had on the ride up the mountain. The food was not great but the staff went above and beyond to make sure everyone had as much to eat as they wanted and offered blankets to people to make sure they were comfortable during the show. (The temperature really drops during the evening up the mountain) The entertainment was very hokey but family-friendly and pretty good for what it was. My only complaint was that it went a bit too long. We arrived for our 6:30 reservation at 6:15, as instructed, but did not get into our car to go home until 9:30 or 9:45. We weren't expecting the evening to go that late. The band played a bit longer than necessary, in my opinion. This is a great way for a family to spend an evening together but be prepared for a long night and don't expect too much from the food. Enjoy the courteous staff and the show for what it is -- a hokey "wild west" experience.

“Too tired, not even corny”
Reviewed 20 August 2013

I have found reviews on Trip Advisor to be so helpful, so I feel obligated to write this one. Of all the things we did in in Jackson, this was our least favorite.

I thought my kids, ages 9 and 12 would love it, but it was just such a tired show that they were really bored. The food was fine and plentiful, and the college age staff couldn't have been nicer and more knowledgeable, which are the only reasons that saved my review from getting one star. The horse drawn carriage ride was fun too, but I imagine if you do the later show you'd come back in the dark and miss a lot of scenery.

The owner couldn't be nicer and the band is really fun. If the band just played I would give this 4 stars. But I felt so sorry for the 40-50 year old women who got sniffed because they smelled good and had to smile on cue because they had a "purdy smile." Ultimately, I felt the worst for the 20 something year old who - spoiler alert - got chosen to receive the marriage proposal from the actor because of her beautiful eyes.

I was expecting a corny show, but this was just tired and sad.
