What a gem! An oasis in the mountains where all there is, is to sit back & enjoy what Wyoming has to offer! All in one place! Good food, good hiking, good fishing! Once you come, you will never want to leave.

Flat Creek Ranch was so much better than we had hoped! Although I'm from Texas, we live in Houston so I'm more of a city slicker. That's why I was a little concerned when my wife set up a summer vacation that put us "in the middle of nowhere".
It turns out nowhere was heaven. I couldn't believe how much we enjoyed being off the grid without a signal or television. But FCR is not your fathers camping trip. The cabins are very cozy and clean and even though I can say we were living without electricity, I can't say we were roughing it. The food was fantastic and plentiful- and that was just the icing on the cake. The hosts were terrific and the beauty was unforgettable and hard to describe. If you're not familiar with big sky country done right, you need to put this place on your bucket list. If you are familiar with it, you will love this five star version. We travel around the world so we generally don't go to the same place twice but this is the first time we're thinking about a repeat.

Room Tip: It turns out the room didn't matter to us at all. You dine at the main lodge and we spent 99% o...

Thank you so much for your kind words. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay. I could help but notice that you mentioned that you didn't mind living without electricity. We actually do have electricity that is solar powered with a generator back up system. Glad to know you didn't feel like you were roughing it ever off of the "grid". Cheers!

We stayed at the Ranch in August and enjoyed ourselves immensely! The lodging, food and the fishing were absolutely amazing. Trey, Shelby, Marcia and Joe are undoubtedly the perfect Hosts. The location is stunning, even the road to the Ranch is an adventure. Cannot wait to return!

If you are looking to unplug and relax while being pampered....in a remote, lovely setting...head for Flat Creek Ranch. Shelby and Trey, managers of Flat Creek, will make sure your stay is a memorable one. My wife and I stayed in Cal's cabin ...it was cozy, clean and comfortable. It had a private deck overlooking the creek, a wood burning stove to take the chill out of the morning air and with the windows open,, you could hear the creek's music. Don the Chef will make sure your dining experience memorable as well...every meal was a foodie's delight. Horseback riding, hiking and fishing can occupy your days...or not. We also enjoyed making new friends on this trip, Every evening before dinner, all the guest would meet at the lodge for wine and appetizers to mingle and re-live the days activities. All-in-all, a wonderful experience and one I'd like to again.

Room Tip: Cal's cabin offers abit more privacy than the other cabins

From the moment we were met at the airport we started to unwind from our frenetic daily pace. The ranch's representative loaded our bags into their SUV and took us into town to purchase fishing licenses and flies that we'd need for our fly fishing activities. We went up the bumpy road to the ranch and were greeted with gorgous views of the lake and surrounding mountains. After settling in to our cabins we quickly got into the ranch routine which is, in a word, relaxing. There's no internet (except for one small location at the edge of the lake and there's no television. It was just nature, us, fellow guests and our hosts. At 7 we met in the lodge for wine and appetizers and then were told about that night's gourmet fare - cream of leek soup followed by a braised, seared duck breast. This is not ranch food - it's gourmet fare and we, as serious foodies, were impressed. The next morning our activities began - horseback riding followed by a fly fishing lesson. Dinner that night was an amazing smoked prime rib. That night, and every night that followed, we ate at a large table with our fellow guests - a veterinarian and his wife from from Ireland, newlyweds from Boston and a financial planner and his wife from Nashville. We all bonded quickly. The next day's activity was a major hike which most of us in our party declined. Instead, we went on a smaller hike with Shelby, one of the two managers at the ranch. We sampled wild rasberries and juniper berries on our hike and returned in time for a fabulous lunch of herbed chicken. The more adventuresome guests braved a 4000 foot ascent up a mountain. Every day had 2 choices - activities suggested by the ranch personnel or ones that we created ourselves. After 4 days of minimal contact with the outside world we had completely unwound and felt invigorated. This is a place to come if you want to break away from the hectic pace of daily life and be pampered in a pristine setting.

Flat Creek Ranch is a 5-star guest ranch, a mountain resort for a very special experience. The main lodge looks out over a beautiful lake, guest cabins are nestled next to the crystal clear Flat Creek, and you become part of a community of guests who have gathered from interesting places around the country and the world. The staff make you feel like family and a special guest at the same time. This is one of those rare places where you can go "off the grid," get away from your normal routine, but still relax in luxury. The meals are excellent - our chef, Don, is extremely talented. All of us were amazed at the fantastic international cuisine at a mountain ranch surrounded by forest wilderness. Congratulations Joe and Marcia, and Trey and Shelby for an outstanding retreat!

Room Tip: All cabins are excellent and cozy

One of my favorite movies is "A River Runs Through it", a great movie for lots of reasons, but besides Brad Pitt fly fishing, the beautiful, pristine river country where it was filmed (or similar to it) has been a
dream of mine to find. We were picked up at the airport to be driven out
to the ranch, it is remote which is what we wanted, and as we got closer and closer I looked at my husband with tears welling and exclaimed "WE FOUND IT". The most beautiful, serene piece of Wyoming anyone could wish for. Not only does it have a gorgeous river that meanders through the property, it has a lake so clear you want to drink from it. Tons of fish in both river and lake and we were there at the end of August. We stayed in Cissy Cabin and it was perfect. Loved the view of the lake and mountains. Actually, loved everything and everyone associated with this piece of Paradise!!!!! Trey was a wonderful fishing guide and God Bless you Joe and Marcia for sharing your treasure. Room Tip: Cissy cabin is the largest, actually the one pictured here on Trip Advisor. Beautiful view of the l...
