“A Pleasant Stay in Jackson”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 November 2013

This was our splurge after staying in several mom and pop places on our trip to SD and WY in June 2013. We found it to be comfortable and in close walking distance to restaurants and downtown. Breakfasts were very good and I appreciated that there was a change in menu each day. There were also plenty of breads (muffins, bagels, etc.) and fruit and great tasting coffee. We found the staff friendly and helpful and loved sitting on the front porch and looking at the garden.

We recently for our honeymoon trip and though it was OK, just didn't have anything special to brag about. My wife and I have stayed @ b+b's all over the country and didn't think it had that personal touch most b+b's provide.. Compared to other properties in town, the price was on par. In general though it just felt a little bit worn, and the bathroom was just kinda eh, nothing special. Furnace in the room didn't work. The "spa" was just a dry steamer room in the basement. The staff was pleasant, but not overly warm. The breakfast was not really all that great, a handful of typical offerings and a hit or miss daily special. The website mentioned a garden on-site, but no indication anything in the breakfast was truly local (aside from the coffee roasters). If we went back to Jackson, which we surely will, we would check out another choice.

Room Tip: corner rooms had much more natural light

My wife and I stayed at the Alpine House in September. Room was well equipped with a kitchenette and sitting area. Quiet but no view. Very nice toiletries. Parking ok outside. Breakfast very good if you like what they produce but disappointing to have a take it or leave it choice. The breakfast changes daily and our second day was more to our liking. All freshly prepared to their credit. Staff friendly and accommodating. Well situated and characterful.

We booked The Alpine House for the first night of our honeymoon trip. The common areas are attractive and comfortable, and they have a nice little honor bar where you can get a beer or glass of wine. Breakfast was fantastic. The special of the day was egg, pancetta and asparagus, and there was a wide selection of pastries, fruits, cereals, etc., and great coffee. The room was nice, but in common with other reviews, it was a bit small and the view underwhelming for the price. Otherwise, we had a great experience. Also, they have a number of green certifications for practices including offsetting all electrical with wind power. Recommended.

Room Tip: We had a standard queen that was small and didn't have a great view. It's probably worth the...

Our room was extremely small for the cost of these accommodations. Common areas are quite nice. Parking very convenient. Breakfast is gourmet quality and coffee excellent and available all day and in the evening with home made cookies.

However, we probably wouldn't stay there again because the high cost is not warranted based on the mediocre quality of the room.

We spent one night at the Alpine House on the way to Yellowstone. We had made a reservation (which, by the way, is non-refundable) and were upgraded from a fan-cooled queen room to a larger room with a king bed and air conditioning. There was ample off-street parking, and the grounds in front were lovely, with fall blooms, hummingbirds, outside seating. Breakfast was included, both buffet and a special-of-the-day option. The blueberry pancakes with maple syrup were delicious!

On the plus side, The Alpine House is conveniently located, close, but not too close, to the town square, and there is ample parking. The curb appeal of the facility is quite attractive, centered around a pretty entry garden. The room itself was nothing special but acceptable, minus the view of the parking lot. The breakfast, likewise, was acceptable though unmemorable. On the downside, we encountered several problems that marred our stay, foremost being no hot water for the last day and a half of our visit. The staff was evasive to our inquiries on a timeline for repair and offered us no alternative for showering--not a good prospect when you've spent your day hiking in the Tetons. They were equally evasive and unresponsive when it came to making any adjustment to our bill for the inconvenience incurred. An additional inconvenience was that wifi in the facility was "down" for the duration of our stay. All in all, considering the excellent lodging alternatives in and around Jackson, we will not be returning to The Alpine House any time soon. If ever.
