“Relaxing off the beaten path”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 September 2009

It's a bit of a drive to Slide Lake, part of which is on a gravel road, but if you want peace and quiet, Budges' Slide Lake cabins are just what the doctor ordered! The cabins themselves have everything you could possibly need and the most comfortable beds of our 16-day trip this summer. Complete with washer and dryer, full kitchen and plenty of extra towels and blankets, it is a spacious, comfortable place to stay while in the Tetons.

We stayed in cabin # 1 and what a perfect spot. Everything we needed was there and so clean. We had a lake view and saw lots of animals.

This is a wonderful place Thanks to Jane and her husband for a great stay,

My husband and I spent 5 days in cabin #4 and couldn't have asked for a better location. The cabin was clean, well kept, well supplied and offered a great view of frozen Slide Lake. High Country Snowmobiles does a Gros Ventre Mountain tour and the trailhead is right up the road from the cabin so we just met them there. On the snowmobile trip we saw elk, moose, bald eagles, a golden eagle, mountian sheep and a coyote (no wolf, but it wasn't because our guide, Chris, wasn't trying!). There were two elk that walked right across the frozen lake in front of the cabin. The view of the Tetons in this area is as good as it is anywhere. We have been to the area in the past and will be returning to Budge's soon!

We stayed at cabin #1 for two wonderful weeks ! Our cabin was clean, nicely furnished and included all the conveniences of home. The cabins are centrally located to GTNP, Yellowstone 50 mi. and Jackson Hole and we recommend using the cabin as your home base. The lake was great for fishing and the trout were delicious ! Even those days that we had nothing planned were spent out on the lake fishing and enjoying the view of the Grand Tetons. The cabins are fairly secluded so if peace ,quiet and relaxation are your thing you can't go wrong ( No TV). We saw more wildlife (bison, osprey, pronghorn, moose, muledeer, and a bear) on the roads to and from our cabin then we did on our three trips in Yellowstone. There is so much to see and do that you might want to consider more than a one week stay. Thank You to the Budge's for the greatest family vacation ever !! (My 6 yr. old son has already decided that he's staying in cabin #1 with his wife and FOUR kids!!)

This was a wonderful vacation. The cabin was comfortable, right on the lake. The scenery was amazing. There were six of us. It is off the beaten track - helped having an SUV, but once there it was fantastic. The lake, the mountains and the peace and quiet were perfect. A nice patio overlooking the lake about 10 miles from the entrance to the Grand Tetons with plenty of wildlife to see on the way. Great place for day trips to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. We rented a canoe at Dormans, where you can also stock up on groceries, fishing supplies, camping gear, etc, have a nice lunch or dinner, sign up for rafting trips - near the entrance to the Grand Teton Park. The owners were very nice. It was a trip we will always remember.

  • Liked — The cabin itself and the scenery
  • Disliked — ten miles from nearest store - but just takes planning - no cell phone service, but there is a land line.

My husband and I took a road trip for our honeymoon to enjoy the scenery and see new sights. Budges' was the perfect base camp for our stay. Convenient, quiet, romantic and the setting is beautiful. We are looking forward to future stays.

After many hours of researching the Internet for our family vacation to the Tetons, we decided upon Budges' Slide Lake Cabins. We wanted to be out of the hubbub of Jackson and really enjoy the outdoors. We were very pleasantly surprised with our accommodations. They have 5 cabins total. Ours was alone on the opposite side of the lake with a full view of the Tetons. They provide everything you could possibly need and the place is immaculate! We felt at home the minute we stepped inside. You feel as though you have the lake to yourself. We took our rafts and floated and fished from them. It is a ways off the road, but that gives you a chance to see the wildlife on the drive. We loved it! I highly recommend staying at the Budges' Slide Lake cabins!
