The road to and around Jenny Lake can be a bit confusing and one way in place but once you figure out navigation around it, you will be too busy with jaw-dropping scenery. Not to be missed.

Jenny Lake is one of the most beautiful places in the Grand Tetons. The lake lies at the base of the main Teton peaks, own as the Cathedral. The lake is formed from a glacier and the bottom is entirely made up of rocks. We took the one-hour scenic cruise and had a most enjoyable time riding around the lake with a very knowledgeable tour guide; we learned a lot about the history and geology of the area. And, we had up-close and unparalled views of the Cathedral Group. The photo opportunities were incredible! I recommend you make reservations. When you arrive at the Visitors Center you have to walk down to the lake and boat dock (about 5 minutes). You will see lots of people as they take tween 1200 and 2000 people across the lake each day so they can hike. After the cruise, you can walk across the bridge and take a short hike.

We went over on the shuttle and walked this in the rain. And it was still great. Absolutely beautiful falls. My husbands favorite hike of our trip. We went to Inspiration Point and if it wouldn't have been raining would have walked farther.

On the Jenny Lake Lodge Road (a one way, narrow byway) you can pull off onto a beautifully set parking area, located mid-center of Jenny Lake.

This is an excellent location to see the lake, the Cathedral view of the Tetons, and a number of the glaciers, canyons, and ridges of the mountains.

Early morning is a great time to arrive, as the motorcoach tours have not arrived, and the sun is just breaking over the Gros Ventre mountains to the east. Even with the peaks clouded in, the views are outstanding.

The site is not large, so please be considerate when parking! Right side diagonal parking is for autos & motorcycles. Left side parallel is for large RV.s, vehicles towing trailers, and motorcoaches. If there are no parking spaces for your 4 wheel vehicle, do not park in the large vehicle slots, just wait, or move on, and return later.

It may seem like a small thing, but when a coach arrives, they will park and drop passengers, even if a car is taking their parking - then all of us have to wait, as there is no room for cars to back out while the coach is in the lane. AND the motorcoach driver keeps the engine running, in case he has to move, or left side parking becomes available, either way - you can forget having a tranquil visit.

As we came out of Yellowstone & the Tetons, we took this scenic drive and it was well worth the trip. It's a one way scenic road with a stop off at beautiful Jenny Lake. With the mountains across the lake, it makes for a nice little byway to stretch your legs and take a photo op!
