Impeccably restored turn of the century mansion, stunning millwork and fret work (we love woodwork). Rooms are very big and superbly decorated. The breakfasts were excellent and the host, Kaye-Marie was a delight. We enjoyed our first night so much we rearranged our travel plans so we could stay there on our return home. If you like B and Bs, don' miss this one. One consideration, all the rooms are upstairs with no elevator so keep that in mind.

Room Tip: We stayed in Rose room and Blue room, both were bright and huge.

We found this gem while on a wandering motorcycle trip of the backroads of CO, WY, ID and MT. What a wonderful place! The home itself is amazing with hundred year old details lovingly refinished by its owners. Everywhere you look, there is another detail to see that amazes you.

The hosts could not be nicer. Since we are traveling on motorcycles, we need to travel light and only bring 5 days clothing. We were just about out of clean clothes and asked if we could use their laundry. They cheerfully offered to wash our laundry and even brought it back to the room clean and folded. Amazing!

Breakfast was wonderful, with eggs, toast, coffee, fruit etc. all of which were homemade. This is a 5 star place for a 3 star price. If you want to feel like the gentry of the late 1800s, you've come to the right place!

Room Tip: All of the rooms are excellent, you won't be disappointed with any of them.

My husband and I first stayed at the Ferris Mansion in 2010, when we were dating. We loved it so much, we've been back three times since, so that we could stay in each of the four lovely rooms. Each is unique, decorated beautifully, with very comfortable beds and great linens. One is smaller, but all have charm. The larger ones have wonderful deep, claw-footed bathtubs in their bathrooms. Wonderful to relax in a soak. The owner and her family are very hospitable, easy to talk to, and cook a delicious full hot breakfast served with extras of granola, fruit, yogurt. Coffee is ready at 6 am, so you can pad down the carpeted stairs and get some to enjoy in your room. The parlor is gorgeous and we only wish we could have stayed longer each time to just enjoy the comfortable and attractive common spaces. We are usually traveling between Utah and Colorado, so Rawlins is a perfect half-way point to stop over. Our last stay was June 19th, and we arrived very late. But the eldest daughter in the family waited up for us and was very gracious about it. We will stay here whenever we can and highly recommend it as a lovely oasis when crossing the long miles of western Wyoming. A step back in time, but with some modern conveniences. The best of both worlds!

Room Tip: The Rose and Blue rooms are spacious, have easy chairs and lovely baths with deep tubs. The lavende...

The Ferris Mansion was a beautiful step back in time, filled with elegance and incredible hospitality! We stayed passing through from Jackson to Denver and thoroughly enjoyed the charming character and warmth of the beautiful home. The history of the home is very colorful with dramatic twists and turns that ends up with a family with a determination and passion for restoring the grandeur of this spectacular Victorian home. It was a lovely experience with an absolutely delicious end with a breakfast of amazing sticky buns and egg casserole with bread toasted in an antique toaster! Thank you Whitney for an unforgettable time!

This is definitely one of our favorite experiences at a bed and breakfast. Kaye-Marie is a delightful hostess and we loved hearing the fascinating stories about her family's journey to restore this mansion to its original beauty. Wish we would have one more night here! Breakfast included several of her specialties. My favorite was the French toast with an 'out of this world' orange sauce. If you find yourself in this area, you really must check out this B & B. You will love it!

I second exactly what seetheworld1 had to say! i stumbled upon Ferris and Rawlins when looking for a stopover between the Denver area and our Yellowstone destination. Glad I did, because it was great! Especially since we were the only ones there the night we stayed, so got to really look around at all the lovely rooms. Also discovered there is a "twin" (same mansion) in Keokuk, Iowa and since I grew up in Iowa I will definitely check it out when I travel there. Make a point of staying in Rawlins and at the Ferris B&B if ever in that area.
