“Great ambience, relaxing, great location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2010

It's like going back to an earlier day when people didn't just stay in their rooms and never venture out. The Lodge and it's front and back porches are the places to gather and people do. Wood rocking chairs on the large front porch are a nice cool place to spend time. The back porch with it's wicker chairs is great and I loved its outdoor fireplace. Perfect for Wyoming's cooler evenings. The rooms are small but adequate and the lodge, grounds and hot pools are where everyone hangs out. I liked that. There is an 18 hole golf course that is beautiful and enjoyable to walk around. The river is right outside so taking some time to go fishing is also encouraged. The staff couldn't have been nicer. Food was good in the restaurant, but it's also an easy walk downtown if you want variety.

We stayed three days and two nights. Booked online and got a 10% discount. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Continental breakfast and free coffee included. You can also order of the menu. There is a great bar with good bar food. They were rated #5 micro brewery with accomodations.
The pool and hot tubs with teepees were great.
They recommended two outfitters for activities: Hack tackle shop for fly fishing and rafting and Medicine Bow Lodge for horseback riding. Great recommendations. They also have an onsite spa for massages and 9 hole golf course.
Saratoga is a cute town and has also restaurants and shops. Perfect three day getaway for couples or families.

We had a great time. We were a bit worried at first because some of the reviews were so mixed, but it ended up being a great experience. Keep in mind you are not paying for a $300 dollar a night resort, so don't expect it. But, if you go into this wanting to get away form it all, stay in a cute little town, and relax in the hot springs, then this is perfect for you. Eat at the Wolf Resturant, it was really great steak. They have a great breakfast at the Saratoga resort, so do that and enjoy thier microbrews. We will be back!

My other half and I took a trip to Wyoming for my birthday. We love the town of Saratoga and have utilized the free Hobo Pool near the town park several times in our travels. It is relaxing and the minerals really help a skin condition I have. We knew there was a resort on the other side of the river that also had hot springs, a large hot springs pool, spa, and other facilities. We booked a room and looked forward to my birthday getaway. The Saratoga Inn is in a great location. It has it's own tennis courts, golf course, comfortable outdoor fireplace, outdoor chess board that is huge, a large, clean lap pool, a large communal hot spring soaking pool, and four private teepee covered hot spring soaking pools that are various temperatures. So far, so good, until we got to our room. The pictures online look so warm and inviting, but as you can see from the pictures in this review, the rooms are very worn and tired. They were clean, but needed a lot of TLC, and I do not feel they warrant the price we paid. The log bed was nice, but it is way too large for the small width of the room. Also, there is no practical place to hang up clothes, or anywhere to leave your suitcases open. The fan in the bathroom was disconnected, so the bathroom never dried out. The bedding is nice, but the bed itself has seen better days as it sagged slightly in the middle. Now, my biggest problem was the adult hours and kid hours in the pool and soaking tubs area. early mornings from 6am to 9am is supposed to be adult swim and soak, and from 9pm to 11pm in the evenings. Children were NEVER supposed to go into the teepee pools at any time, and large pool toys were not supposed to be used in the lap pool. Well, this never happened! There are signs posted around the pool with the rules, which were ignored by the parents and the children. Finally, after several guests called the front desk, the manager came out and told the parents to get their kids out of the pools. This was stressful, and this was supposed to be a relaxing trip. The facility is nice, though it needs A LOT of repair, and some customer service training. I have to say that the people that clean the rooms are great. They are friendly, and had lots of ideas on what to do around the community. One weird thing that happens all day is the laundry delivery and removal. They use a very noisy golf cart that just drives in from the side and circles around the pool area and pulls in near where the cleaning crew is working...it reminded us of the old television series The Prisoner. Which fits this mistake vacation PERFECTLY! There is a continental breakfast included with your room stay, this consisted of bread, butter, jam, two choices of cold cereal and coffee. We still love Saratoga and will continue to go to the Hobo Pool but will avoid the Saratoga Inn, but if you love screaming kids that are jumping in the pools that are CLEARLY marked NO DIVING, and rude parents that yell as much as their kids, then by all means, book a shabby room at the Saratoga Inn!

We stayed two nights here on our way from Yellowstone to Steamboat. We were put in the Duke Suite which was a really nice size and very comfortable. The hot springs were fantastic and very relaxing, particularly later in the evening. The restaurant and bar were good value (the bar has its own microbrewery) and the quality of the food was excellent. Contrary to some other reviews, all the staff we came across were extremely friendly and helpful. Overall the hotel had a really relaxed atmosphere so it is an excellent place to go and chill out. The small town of Saratoga was also really nice - we particularly liked the ice cream shop.

After staying 3 nights at the Saratoga Resort and Spa we have come to realization that the business is failing. They may be making money, but they are not making friends, especially our group. We travel quite frequently and love to explore small towns. Part of the allure of our visit to Saratoga was the getting to know the history of the area and the people. Our disapointment with the SR&S stems from the fact that we could not find a single staff member who had one nice thing to say about any other business in town. If we asked about a business and what they offered we were told how horrible they are and we should use the resorts services. I find it hard to believe that a small town business survives long without giving its customers what they want. We did venture out and not surprisingly we found that the business's that we had been told to stay away from were thriving and we could not get in the door. Sad to say the resort had any business and it became quite clear the motives behind the resort staff reports to us. Well, we will be back to Saratoga, the town is great...we will not be back to the resort.

My husband & I, our 2 children (9 months & 6 years), and my in-laws just spent 2 wonderful nights at the Saratoga Resort & Spa. We stayed in Room 155 (in-laws were in 129), which opened up onto the Courtyard where the hot pools are located. This was very convenient, I could see our 6 year old from the little porch in front of our room while she was in the pool. The room was small and a bit outdated but good enough for the 2 nights we were there. The grounds had a "Camp" feel that I really enjoyed. At night we enjoyed sitting on the back porch around the fireplace with a cocktail. There is a cozy living room on the other side with an adjoining fireplace. We ate at the restaurant twice (once for breakfast and once for dinner), this is where my only complaint of our stay . . . During breakfast our server was extremely rude when my husband, children & I joined my in-laws. The food was decent but nothing extraoridinary. The first night in Saratoga we ate at the Hotel Wolf, which was awesome. Fabulous prime rib! The next evening (July 4) we ate at the Resort. There was to be a fried chicken special, however, I was served chicken fried steak instead. It was your typical diner chicken fried steak, good, but not what I ordered. Apparently there was some mix-up because I overheard several other diners complain of the same. The lounge/bar was cozy with a full bar, however, my husband (who used to work as a professional brewer) was not impressed with the beer made in house. All in all we enjoyed our time in Saratoga, the town put on a good 4th of July Parade and fireworks display and the locals were friendly. I think we would stay at the Saratoga Resort & Spa again if we were in Saratoga.
