“Small Town Overpriced Motel”
Reviewed 16 October 2012

We arrived on Friday afternoon for a two night stay and our room was ready. We stayed the night and when we came back on Saturday afternoon our room was not made up. The only amenity-in room cofffee was not replaced. This is the most I've paid for a room and the worst service.
We met friends Saturday night and when they arrived their room was not ready at 630 pm.
When you stay here beware and do not expect much

I want to be very fair here. The reception staff were pleasant & helpful. The room was large though a bit dark & the beds were fantastic (pillows a bit less so). We are not fans of wash basins in the room & the bath/shower room was tiny. The toilet seat was coated in strange, bubbly paint which was very unpleasantly chipped in several places. The sink plug was faulty & would not hold water, whi
ch was a pest.
The location was easy walk to small town centre. A 20% discount was offered at a local bar/cafe as no breakfast is given at Riviera Lodge. However, this cafe is not open for breakfast!
Have to agree with previous reviewer that $99+ tax was not good value compared with several other chain motels we have stayed in.

We were pleasantly surprised with Riviera Lodge. Melina and Cassandra were friendly and welcoming. We drove over 400 miles the day we arrived for a one night stay. Walking to our 2nd story room was doable for these out-of-shape octegenarians. The bed was so comfortable you just sank into it. The pillows soft. It all made for a very comfortable sleep. The location of the Lodge is along the Platte River and an easy walk to the historic downtown. Andy and Alice R

I was recently in Wyoming for a wedding and this was one of the accommodation choices listed on the invitation. I called and reserved a room and was all set to go. When I arrived, something had gone wrong with the reservation and they did not have a record of it. I am one of those people who base my reviews not necessarily what goes wrong, but what the accommodation does to correct the wrong. The staff at Riviera Lodge was EXCELLENT. Within twenty minutes we had a room for the night and then the next morning we were upgraded. The staff was so apologetic that *I* was almost ready to apologize to *them* for the inconvenience.

The setting by the river is very peaceful and if you are an early riser, you can have a cup of coffee by the river and just watch the water flow. It's very quiet and the people are extremely friendly. The lodge is close to great food choices. Each room has a fridge and a microwave as well, so you can also stock up your own snacks if you don't want to dine out. There is a fully stocked Family Dollar store less than a 5-minute walk from the lodge too. So if you forget little odds and ends, like toothpaste or ibuprofen, you can pick some up there. One of our travel buddies was feeling a little ill one day during the trip and we got all of her "feel better" items right there.

The room was comfortable with plenty of amenities: Cable TV, Coffee maker, Microwave, Fridge, Iron/Iron board (was great since we had to go to a wedding), and WiFi

The best amenity was the kind, helpful staff who was gracious in all circumstances.

We stayed in suite here in the winter--quiet and comfortable. Added bonus that they are pet-friendly.

There was a lot of confusion when checking in, but we put this down to it being 4 July and an inexperienced member of staff. However, she was very apologetic and did ask for the help of the owner/manager to rectify her mistake - so no harm done. The room itself was very nice, we had a room overlooking the river (which was heavily sandbagged at the time of our visit, due to the heavy thunderstorms). The beds were extremely comfortable and well upholstered. Due to the weather, there was no power when we returned from our evening meal but, fortunately, this was only a short lived problem.

My business partner and I shared a room at the Riviera. The $99.95 room had two queen beds, two sinks (one inside the bathroom, one outside), tub/shower, TV with lots of cable channels, microwave, refrigerator, iron with full-size ironing board and hair dryer. It was quite clean. The beds were comfortable, and the mattresses seemed new. Four small but very stuffed pillows came with each bed. There was no thermostat but a relatively nice air conditioning/heating unit with manual control (a temp control and High Heat, Low Heat, High Cool, Low Cool etc). We also noticed the rooms were very quiet; never heard our neighbors when we were in the room.

The lobby featured towels for guests using the pool (which we did not have a chance to use). It also has an ice and vending room with ice maker, two soda machines and a snack machine that also contained some toiletry items.

The staff was very pleasant and accommodating.

There's two restaurants within walking distance that are decent; also a sandwich place across the street. There's a couple of gas stations and a 24-hour Kum & Go just down the street.

Positives: clean, comfortable, relatively spacious room, two sinks in the room, microwave/fridge in room, quiet rooms, high speed internet available, friendly staff, good location, good value for the $$$

Negatives: door locks are minimal (single locking doorknob only)...deadbolts would be nice; no business center

Overall: one of the better places to stay in town
