“Love It!”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

We were really surprised at the Mill. Very clean rooms, wonderful staff and a great value. We spent a couple of days in Sheridan and this hotel made a great base. If we are ever in the area again, would definitely book here. Only change we might make would be to rent a suite. Just a really great place to stay.

Stayed here on a trip across the country, between Devil's Tower and Little Bighorn. After 5 nights of low-end corporate franchise hotels (all of which were pretty nice), it was great to stay at a locally owned place. This hotel is in old flour mill, so it has unique floorplans, but they were not at all out of spec from what you'd expect from a hotel room anywhere in the world. There were fun western patterns on the bedspread and curtains, and the room was spotless, and the bathroom freebies were solid. (We particularly enjoyed the old school paper "guest towel" that went along with everything else.)

Bottom line our room was inexpensive, clean, and comfortable and the wifi was fast and free.

We slept through the free breakfast so I asked in the lobby for a place to eat and had a great chat with the owner -- I mentioned that my friend and I had a lot of fun making fun of the bad TA reviews we read prior to stopping. Trust me, they were written by people without a good sense of what makes a good hotel. She directed us to a great place downtown (sorry I forget the name), and we had a good time poking around Sheridan before we kept going. It's a pretty cool little city!

Overall, this was one of the best hotels we stayed in on our trip. Book with confidence!

Room Tip: The rooms on the ground floor are motel style, with an exit to the outside.

I stayed here a week ago for about $80 total for one night. After having driven from Illinois it was a nice, clean place to rest up for my next drive. My only issue was that I had made the reservation ahead of time for a single NS but when I got there she said I should have mentioned the dog but there was no where to do that online. So they had to put me in a double for $10 more. Which was a little annoying but the room was clean, the water was hot and the bed was decent. If I was passing through I would stay here again.

Thank you for being our guest and we’re pleased that you’d stay with us again. Our website, under Services Provided, states: “Pets Welcome (with paid fee in specialty rooms only. Advance notice required)”. Since we have a limited number of pet friendly rooms, when reserving a room online it is necessary that such request be made by either e-mail or phone call at the time of the booking. We apologize for any confusion concerning your online reservation.

My wife and I were returning to Denver from Spokane on a road trip. We needed a place to stay on short notice. It was after 10:00 pm when we arrived so we went on Trip Advisor to see what was suggested. We wanted clean, comfortable and inexpensive, in that order. The Mill Inn was at the top of the list

We decided to give the Mill Inn a try based on the good reviews, even though the hotel looks a little "unique" when you drive up as it is a hotel converted from an old flour mill building. We were admittedly a little concerned about our choice at first, but were too exhausted to belabor the decision.

The lobby was clean, well kept and appropriately decorated for the historical nature of the building and the western culture of the area. Ed was on the grave yard shift at the front desk and was very friendly. He put us in a single room on the first floor for a $60 rate. Because it was after 10:00 pm, he said he could also offer us a 15% discount. The total was only $54.

The room was small but was well laid out and had everything in it one would need. Small appliances such as microwave and fridge and a big flat screen tv with cable. Free internet access too. The bed was very comfortable. It looked like new carpet and new paint, but I'm not sure if that is true. The room was very clean.

The fiberglass shower unit and toilet were in a separate small room that had a heat lamp and a quiet fan. I like the shower units where there is no tile and grout to get all nasty. It too was very clean and the water volume and temperature were great. I dislike the water saver heads when I am traveling and this room (#108) had a nice flow. We didn't use it, but it had a coffee maker with Starbucks coffee. The room was next to the west lobby entry doors but was very quiet. The original building feels like it was built very solidly. There was someone in the room next to us, but we never heard a single sound from them, other than when their door closed in the morning.

The continental breakfast was better than most. Waffles, strawberries, whip cream, canned peaches, cereals, toast, juices, coffee, etc. No eggs or bacon, but fresh stuff non-the-less and the serving area was kept spotless and well organized.

The morning crew at the front desk were also very friendly. Just a great experience all the way around. I didn't expect to be impressed for $54 a night but was very pleasantly surprised. I'm sure it has something to do with the Mill Inn not being a national chain and having owners that live in the community and obviously take pride in excellent customer service and maintaining their reputation.

I would look forward to staying here again and will plan my future Spokane road trips to land in Sheridan whenever possible. I suspect it might be hard to get a room at this place from May to August during the busy season. Just too good a value to have empty rooms very often.

Room Tip: First floor rooms allow you to park right in front of your door for easy unloading and loading, and...

A great value if you just want a room to sleep in. It's clean, safe and service is a top priority there. The mill has an interesting history with old pictures and info as decor. If you plan to spend a lot of time at your hotel or want things to do on site (pool, bar, restaurant. indoor entrances and large lobby) Sheridan has these but you'll pay twice as much, or more. The rooms are a little crowded with all they put in them but nice enough. If you have questions, need help, or want info, just ask and if the staff person on duty can't help, they will find someone who can. Am from area and have been to other hotels in area for conventions, meetings but this was just a 2 night stay because of weather and medical procedures.

Hotel has a different layout but it worked fine. We got one of the larger rooms and it had plenty of room. Bed was comfortable and enjoyed the workout facility. Continental breakfast was about like most hotels, which was okay.

I can't say enough for Karen and her staff. Katrina at the front desk always had a smile and friendly greeting. Shannon and Sheri always had the room sparkling. We were there for Christmas, and were allowed to use the break room for our 10 Christmas dinner guests. All went out of their way to make sure we and our guests had everything we needed for a happy holiday meal. (No resturants were open on the 25th). Would recommend this establishment to all without reservations (no pun intended.) Kudos!
