Attraction details
Owner description: Constructed in 1892, the Historic Sheridan Inn gave adventurous travelers a taste of Eastern luxury in the West. Through the years, the Inn has remained a hub of activity, offering elegant New Year's Eve balls and the town's first electric lights. Buffalo Bill Cody sat on the front porch of the Inn auditioning acts to join the "Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show." The Inn is on the National Register of Historic Places. In October 2013, Bob and Dana Townsend became the newest owners of the Inn, bringing 21st century luxury to the 19th century building. The Inn is now open for overnight stays, banquets and tours. Lunch and dinner are also served in the Open Range Restaurant.

“Beautiful Piece of History”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 May 2013

This place is like stepping back into the 1800's! The tour guide shared so many beautiful stories about the rich history. Great little restaurant inside as well. All in all a wonderful spot to stop.

“Sad State for Magnificent Building”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 March 2013

The Sheridan Inn has provided our town with many wonderful, and some strange memories. Now closed, due to money problems, the inn has a rich history.

Miss Kate was a loyal housekeeper who still haunts the upstairs. Watch for her lamp going from room to room. When the Inn was open, her smell was sometimes present. Her good spirit guards against the evil doings of twisted souls in the basement.

“A great little side trip!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 November 2012

While on the road we happened upon this gem. We ate in their restored saloon and had a great lunch of chili, fries and lemonade with berry cake for dessert. The waitress was very friendly and provided wonderful service. The lunch was not cheap but the atmosphere and the good food made for a pleasant experience. After lunch we were taken on a little tour of the hotel and the guest rooms that are being restored. It will be a real historic experience to stay there when the restoration is complete!

“Interesting historical visit”

This was an interesting bit of history, especially if you like cowboy related history. We got a bite to eat at the Grille...the buffalo chili was very good.

“Wonderful meal in historic setting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 September 2012

Ground floor is restored faithfully and it was easy to imagine 19th century visitors there. The 1893 bar and grille was delightfully authentic and I had an excellent clam chowder and steak. Service was quite good, too.
