“Reasonable price in Teton Village”

Clean room, however very dark. No A/C. Only little window. It's only a hostel so don't expect anything more than a bed, little table and chairs. Actually we stayed in a room with so called king size bed and private bathroom. Comparing to the room itself bathroom looked quite new and very clean.

By hostel standards, this place is the epitome of luxury - by hotel standards, like a nice Motel 6. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful, and the coffee in the lobby was the best hotel coffee I've ever tasted. I was worried from some of the reviews that the hostel might be loud & rowdy, but not at all - I saw as many older couples like us as I did young people (although be warned, there's no elevator so if you have issues with stairs this place isn't for you). There was no AC, but at this altitude it's hardly necessary, even in July - we brought our own small fan and it made the room the perfect temperature. This is the perfect home base for attending the Teton Music Festival, hiking in Grand Teton National Park, and living almost like a rich person at middle-class prices. Our home base in Jackson from now on will be the hostel - just be sure to book early because word is getting out about this wonderful place & rooms fill up fast.

My husband, the dog and I stayed here for two nights in mid June 2011. We wanted somewhere dog-friendly, affordable and close enough to YNP and GTNP to visit both on our short stay. The Hostel is a mile from the south entrance of GTNP. About an 1-1.5 hrs to Yellowstone driving through Grand Teton NP. We drove up to Yellowstone for a day trip and made it back to the same evening...doable, but not suggested....it was a whirlwind. The photos on The Hostel's website lead you to believe it is more remote than it is. There a several new, huge resorts right next to it, dwarfing it in comparison. Anyway, the room was adequate in size, clean and "rustic". Only complaint is that we were on the bottom floor and could hear people "galloping" on the walkway above. We walked through, but didn't spend time in the common area (TV room, game room, lounge), but it looked nice...it reminded me of a college dorm. In all, we enjoyed our stay at the Hostel. It was a cheaper alternative to the resorts nearby. I'd stay again for a visit to the Tetons!

We had a room and a cowboy style king and a shower. Air conditioning or even a window that would open would have been nice. The walls were actually bare plywood! Every movement on the second floor could be heard. For my $95 a night, I got the Internet, no air, no tv, lots of noise and not much else. I stay at mom and pop places all the time, but this is too basic for me. They do have a nice cat in the lobby. I'll spend the $135+ in Jackson next time.

We stayed here for three nights over new years. We ski at Jackson Hole often, but always stay in town because it is so much less expensive than staying at the mountain. We decided to try this hotel for the first time. It was awesome! Our room was private, with four single beds. The beds all had nice mattresses. This worked well traveling with two teenage kids.

I had read other reviews and understood that this would not be a typical hotel. It wasn’t . It was much better! It was a lot like staying at a nice KOA campground. The rooms were similar to a deluxe camping cabin, but better. We had four nice beds with linens and daily maid service. We had a private bath with shower. The room did not have phone or television. That was okay though because the common area downstairs was fabulous.

We slept in our room, but spent the evenings downstairs in the common area. There was a large television room with a fireplace. There were also two other rooms with televisions to watch. This area included shuffleboard, pool, ping pong, foosball and chess tables. There were also shelves loaded with board games. This arrangement was much better than any of the other hotels. There were many people enjoying this area during our entire stay. There was always fresh coffee and hot chocolate for après ski.

The price was just under $100 per night at new years! Less than $100 a night to stay at the base of the best ski mountain in the United States!

So how does this compare with the other accommodations in Teton Village? I am sure that the other places would have had nicer rooms. Those nicer rooms would have cost at least five times as much. None of the other places would have the large rooms to relax in though. Having teenagers, we were not going to spend the nights in the bars, and I was not going to spend the night in the room sipping brandy and reading the Wall Street Journal. We spent the day skiing on the mountain, and the evenings enjoying ourselves at the hotel. We will be staying here more often, and I will be recommending it to our friends when they go to ski The Big One.

We were going to cancel our booking after reading the reviews. However, we have experienced a real bad hostel in Edinburgh so we were curious if there was anywhere worse.
We stayed at the hostel for one night. The location is good, very close to the entrance to Grand Teton National Park. The building is pretty old but still in good shape. The price is unbeatable.
The staff we met was helpful and friendly.

As some other reviewers have said, it is a hostel. We got a king bed (actually, two twins pushed next to each other) and a private bathroom. The room was a bit more tired than a Motel 6. Walls were thin. I usually sleep with ear plugs anyway when I travel since I find the vast majority of budget lodgings to be noisy, but this time we tried a white noise maker. Worked like a charm. Rates were the lowest we found in the area, and the hostel had kitchen facilities, which presumably would not have been available at low-priced lodging in Jackson. Staff attitude ranged from charmless (but not rude) to very friendly. The hostel had several large common rooms. One had two large refrigerators, a microwave, and a toaster. We made all breakfasts and lunches there. The laundry room had an electric frying pan and a portable two-burner unit, one of which worked. We used these to make several dinners. Bring your own cutlery and bowls, and maybe dish soap and dish towel. One of the large rooms was set up for dining. WiFi didn’t reach the fourth floor, and was VERY slow several of our evening there. The setting for the hostel is beautiful. Para gliders swooped by our floor some mornings. Elk hung out in the meadow across the street evenings. The mountains behind the hostel are majestic. If you’re on a budget, you typically have to make compromises when staying in an area like this. We were happy with the price/quality compromises the hostel made. We’d stay there again in a heart beat.
