The Hostel

Family stayed the night before setting up our tent in Teton National Park. The tent was almost better than the Hostel. The entire hotel has a quirky feel. Bathroom and shower was clean. The room was very rustic and the linens were dingy. Our extra bed (big family) was a mattress thrown down in the middle of the floor which coincidentally took up the entire walkway. Definitely a unique experience but not one that will meet your standards if you are accustomed to Hampton Inn and/or Marriott hotels.

I really wish all ski resorts had somewhere like The Hostel. Somewhere super cheap, super cosy and super close to the lifts. Everyone was lovely, the communal area was awesome, and rooms were great with really good and comfy mattresses. Only downside was the food preparing area, which could be improved by having the sink and hot plates in the same place as the fridges and microwave. All in all, a brilliant place to stay!

Cheapest slope side lodging I've ever encountered. There are beds, showers and it is ski in ski out. Anybody that complains about slope side lodging for under $100 should just pay more. If your in Jackson to ski and save $. This is your spot. Super cheap

Having stayed at The Hostel numerous times over the past few years, I can without question recommend The Hostel to anyone considering staying in Teton Village. Being one of the first buildings in Teton Village, it does have a few shortcomings, but these are easily overcome by the great people who work and live there and service they provide.

It's quaint accommodation at the base of one of the best ski resorts in America. What more could you want? The rooms have been recently renovated, and in the cumulative 8+ months I have stayed at the hostel over the past few years, I have never had any issues with my room being unclean or dirty as some other reviews have alleged.

I've only had great experiences at The Hostel and I'll keep going back until I win one of those damn Ping Pong Tournaments!

This is an awesome choice for those of us on a beer budget. You cannot beat the ski-in/out location, the staff is exceptionally friendly and the rooms are very clean. The property is old and you can hear everything going on in the other rooms. But most people staying here are skiers and since everyone can hear everyone else, most people try and be pretty considerate about the noise. There is a great common area with a tv, games, etc and a large kitchen area for anyone wanting to cook. For people wanting the the Ritz, this is not it, this is a budget property but you can't beat the price for the location you are getting.

If you're heading to Grand Teton, Yellowstone, and/or Jackson on a budget, I recommend The Hostel in Teton Village. For starters, you'll be only about a mile from the Grand Teton western entrance and only about 15 minutes from Jackson.

Teton Village is of course focused on skiers, but I recommend it for the summer too. Something awe-inspiring to wake up and look out on miles and miles of beauty in front of you. The Hostel itself is pretty rustic, as it should be. The rooms are like staying in a cabin but they're comfortable and all you need if you just want a place indoors to crash for a few nights.

I especially loved the large activities room downstairs, with a sunken area in front of the large tv screen. You can bring your food downstairs and just settle with it in front of the t.v. When I was there, only a couple of people took advantage of this, so you could have it all to yourself.

The kitchen is also huge. It's like being in the rec room of a mountain lodge. There are also plenty of games and things to read to keep you occupied if you don't want to mingle. But you definitely should as I found that people who stay here are generally passionate about life. Grand Teton is not to be missed; I loved it more than Yellowstone because of the alpine wilderness and overall pureness of it. And shopping in Jackson can take several hours as there are blocks of stores and restaurants--even an elk preserve. Things here you generally don't see when you're from the east like me.

The last night I was here, a hot air balloon emerged in the crystal blue sky, its swoosh gently breaking the silence. I steadied my camera for a picture and just wanted to freeze myself in that moment. The beautiful memories of Teton Village, Jackson, and Grand Teton will be there to call up anytime I wish.
