everything about this hotel is perfect. The people that work there, the location, the rooms, the price, etc. We have stayed at the other hotels and rented condos. There is no reason if you want to ski and be in the Village to stay anywhere else. If you need ski gear it is literally in the lobby. The food is terrific too.

Room Tip: every room I have stayed in was good. All depends on how much space you need.

Im a fairly well traveled person, (all major US cities, europe, asia) and Hotel Terra was one of my top five hotels I've ever stayed in - and I sincerely hope I can make it an annual experience.
It's not just that it is modern and elegant, though it is entirely modern and elegant, or that it is situated perfectly for skiing or any season of travel to Jackson, or that I took pictures of all the furnishings so I can try to replicate them in my home, or that the room was lovely, comfortable and spacious. It wasn't just the A-M-A-Z-I-N-G bathtub that is standard in most rooms that is something of a marvel and completely indulgent. Or the restaurant Osteria that would get 4 stars in zagat, or the terrific cafe that makes not just coffee drinks and standard fare, but yummy delicious crepes, and sandwiches that are out of this world. It was the people working there that capped off an entirely lovely week. Everyone I encountered was warm, eager to help, and knowledgeable about their services. From the front desk, to the the ski valet, to the housekeeping staff and food servers, everyone was top notch and genuinely friendly-- making every encounter pleasant and easy. I also really enjoyed the music they play in the common areas; literally every variable at Hotel Terrra lends one a feeling of embracing warmth, while being incredibly cool. Stay there, you will not regret it! (just be gone by the time i get to go back!)

Green Features: very responsible and makes it easy for guests to recycle.

We spent a week there in February, with our 3 kids. Skiing was great and this hotel was a nice find.

With a family our size, we typically prefer to rent a house or condo, but Teton Village doesn't have a lot of options. Terra had a nice suite -- 2 connecting rooms with 1 King, 2 Queens, and a neat full size Murphy bed. Room also had a kitchenette and fridge but space was at a premium.

Pros: 1. You're at the base of the mountain and can easily walk to lifts and tram. (not always the case at Whistler, Park City, and other mountain resorts) 2. They have an awesome free ski check service right downstairs. 3. Italian restaurant in the hotel is very good. 4. No laundry machines in rooms, but there's a free set of machines on every floor which were always available. 5. Two rooftop pools (one for families, one for grownups only) were nice.

Cons -- mostly minor: 1. Rooms are very dark. I'm down with the eco-friendly vibe, but they need a few more lights! 2. Gas fireplaces just ain't the same as wood. 3. Not a ton of hanging space for boots, ski gear etc. 4. Room service is just so-so, need better options. 5. Cafe has good basic food but is woefully slow.

All in all, this is a great option and about half the price of the Four Seasons. Highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms looking out over parking lots. Snow plows are out there all night, and you here the BEE...

We planned our trip to Jackson Hole, WY after we had found out about my husband's terminal brain cancer and were told if he has surgery (which was scheduled for August 2 - we traveled to Jackson Hole July 19 - 21) he would most likely loose his ability to walk. We decided to book this hotel last minute, filled the SUV with 5 teenagers and made the trip from Olympia, WA to see Old Faithful, the Tetons, and float the Snake River.

From the moment we pulled up until we left we had the best service in every way. The valet, the check-in, the room - was spectacular - we were all amazed - it was perfected for the 7 of us. It was one of the 3 bedroom condos that they manage. I wish I could remember the name of the condo room because it had the most beautiful décor, making it feel so homey yet with such sophistication and so Wyoming!!!

The staff was not familiar with our situation and we had a mix up of a special reservation we made that was important to us that they didn't realize. I wasn't looking for sympathy but wanted them to understand the emotion for us. I didn't get upset but just shared what was. They were extremely apologetic and went above and beyond to make up for the mix up.

They brought all the teens lemonades, popcorn, snacks in buckets and a nice card. They were so sweet. They went out of their way.

All the teenagers loved the room, the village, the stores. We did too.

We thank you, Hotel Terra for making it such a wonderful stay during such a uncertain time.

(my husband opted against surgery and continues with chemo treatment and is now being seen by Duke University's Brain Tumor Center) - We continue to be grateful for all we have and all we have been able to experience and the Hotel Terra staff help make that happen.

I went for a ski trip and this was a great place to stay. We stayed in a one bedroom suite and it was outstanding. Large main room with a galley kitchen that had full sized GE profile appliances (fridge, microwave, oven, dishwasher) and was fully equipped with plates, silverware, cooking utencils, etc.. The main room had a nice dinning table with 6 chairs next to big windows to our balcony. There was nice seating area at one end with a gas fireplace and TV with a Bose surround sound system. A queen sized murphy bed (pull down) was at one side of the main room. It was a perfectly comfortable bed. The bedroom had a king sized bed and a nice sized bathroom with double sinks. There was also another bathroom off of the main room. You could easily accommodate 2 couples or certainly parents and one child in this suite. The place was spotless and the maid service each day was outstanding. They even picked up all of my dishes and put them in the dishwasher and ran it. Overall it was beautiful and exceedingly well maintained. The staff was unusually friendly and accommodating. The location was excellent for skiing. We had a 5 minute walk up to the Tram or the gondola in the morning. Coming home you could ski right up to the door of the hotel. If you want to rent skis the Teton Village shop is directly across the way (1 minute walk) and they will hold your skis overnight so you can pick them up each morning. If you get a regular room they are a pretty standard 2 beds in a small room that is a bit cramped. The suite is not cheap, but it made the trip much more enjoyable. The roof top outdoor hot tub/pool was a nice way to end each day after skiing. I would definitely like to stay here again if I go back here.

Room Tip: There are two buildings. Ask for the "newer" building as the rooms are nicer. The suites...

Pros: This was a really clean, efficient hotel. I would compare it to a Hyatt Place: Nice, clean rooms with a spacious bathroom and a hallway to put your ski stuff in. The rooms are small but not cramped. It is very modern and clean. It's also directly across from Teton Village Sports, which is the ski rental place. The hot tub is the nicest (not overly hot, so you can actually enjoy it) and largest I've seen.

Cons: Also like a Hyatt Place, the lobby is small and food options are limited. The breakfast is a cafe sort of like a Starbucks rather than a buffet, so if you want a buffet style breakfast you would need to walk over to the Four Seasons. The hotel is like 100 yards to the Tram, which is fine (so ski-in, but like the previous poster wrote, it is a walk out).

Overall, I would say if you're looking to save some money, it is an outstanding alternative to the other properties in Teton Village.

avidgolfer2010,

Wow...I'm not sure we've ever been compared to a Hyatt Place! While I'm sure Hyatt Place is nice, for the record, our hotel has received the following accolades in the last few years:

Top 100 Hotels in the World - Conde' Nast Traveler
Gold Reserve List - Conde' Nast Traveler
Top 50 Ski Resort Hotels - Conde' Nast Traveler
Best Hotel in Jackson Hole - Jackson Hole News & Guide
AAA Four Diamond Award (6 years in a row)
Top 10 Organic Spa in the U. S. - Organic Spa Magazine

As a side note, yes, our café is a little like a Starbucks in design but much larger and with award winning food.

If for any reason you feel that we did not live up to this reputation or your expectations I would

Wishing you the very best from Jackson Hole!

PS - we have some incredible golf courses in the area...hope to see you this summer!

This is our second time staying at Hotel Terra and it was just as nice as it was 4 years ago. The property still looks like new condition and we had a great stay. The location is a ski in as long as there's enough snow, but it's a bit of a hike to the gondola area. Up hill. I wish JH would put a T-bar or something on that hill to make it easier! But we both agreed it was better to have to walk up in the morning than have to walk up at the end of a ski day. We had an urban studio again, but this one had a balcony overlooking the tram. It was also a slightly bigger corner unit with a full kitchen. Definitely one of the nicest properties we've stayed at. All of the furnishings are modern and comfortable.

There's a great cafe on site for breakfast/lunch and the one site restaurant is very good for dinner if you don't want to go into town.

My only fault with the hotel and this is something I don't remember from our first stay is that the free wifi is so slow. It's $10 I believe for "upgraded" wifi. It was barely usable to even browse the web for restaurant menus. My phone's LTE connection was way faster. We wanted to download a movie from itunes to watch it on the TV (via an iphone to HDMI connector) but it would have taken a week to download it. So we ended up paying the $15 the resort charges for a movie. For $400/night I expect a fast, free wifi connection. I also streamed some TV from my phone's cell phone connection as the wifi wasn't fast enough.
