“Absolutely wonderful!”
Reviewed 1 February 2009

My husband and I stayed in a Terra guest room with king size bed. The staff was amazing. They were friendly, efficient, and went above and beyond when our luggage went missing for 2 days (thanks to our airline carrier). We were always greeted with a smile at the front desk, concierge, and ski valet. Our room was equipped with a double boot drier, HD television, wine glasses (no plastic cups here), great coffee, and yummy and plentiful shampoo/conditioner/lotion. The entire hotel is decorated with a modern feel, but manages to be warm and inviting at the same time. There are several numbered prints from local artists in the room and common spaces as well as a natural fire place in the lobby. We never heard the construction and had a great view of the hill. The cleaning crew was quiet and very accommodating.
Osteria offered a wonderful mix of flavors, though the portions are a little more petite. I was spoiled for a week and can't wait to return!

I have stayed in many hotels in ski-towns over the years but the Hotel Terra is the best. The hotel is beautiful but what really sets it apart from the rest is the wonderful, helpful staff. Everyone from the ski valet guys to the concierge to the housekeeping staff contributed to make our trip wonderful.

We just got back from a very nice trip to Jackson Hole where we spent five nights at the Terra. What an incredible hotel and friendly staff. Yes there are a few very minor things they need to work out but you will love this place, TRUST ME !

Positives:

1. Rooms are amazing. Nothing else to say...Great flat screens, amazing shower, great views !
2. Ski locker room just about 5 yards from the edge of ski-in slope. There is usually a nice guy who will meet you as you walk in and he''ll put your skis up for the night in a nice and convenient room. Just give him a buck or two each time.
3. The maids at this hotel are the best part of the facility. No lie, they actually fold your clothes while you are out skiing. Hotel Terra, Please give these ladies a raise immediately.
4. Michelle at the front desk. What a GREAT smile and such a big help.
5. Hot Tub (great view and plenty of room to relax)
6. Terra Cafe is perfect each morning (get the waffles)

Negatives:

1. Just one elevator but it's not a long wait at all.
2. Osteria sucks. Small portions and my pork was great until I found out it was 60% fat. The other 5 people in my party weren't impressed either. You will find better food at the Mangy Moose.
3. There is a loading dock is in front of hotel which is a huge NO NO.
4. Be prepared to bang your shin on the bed each night on way to bathroom.

My husband and I just returned from 5 fabulous nights at Hotel Terra! I usually don't take the time to write reviews, but we had such a fantastic time and were really made to feel at home at this hotel that I wanted to rave! The staff, service and quality we experienced were all outstanding. We had a beautiful room with fantastic views of the Jackson Hole mountain (you can ski or ride practically to the back door of the hotel). The quality of the materials are awesome... we felt like we could 'live' in this room.. very modern, spacious and eco-friendly. Romantic gas fireplace, bose sound system, our own kitchen with all the amenities and I can't go without mentioning how comfortable the bed and pillows were...it's just an added bonus that they are also eco-friendly.
The staff was friendly and helpful and remembered us throughout our stay - bonus points. The housekeeping staff who we rarely saw always managed to have our room clean as if we just arrived. The cafe downstairs was great for a quick breakfast or lunch and we loved the Italian restaurant with their fabulous wine list. All in all, if you want a great romantic getaway..check out this hotel. You'll love skiing the day away and then relaxing in the roof top hot tub overlooking the mountains, having a romantic meal and then cozying up in your room by your own fireplace. Have fun!

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Terra over the Christmas and New Year holidays and were not overly impressed . We called the hotel directly to book our vacation package, which included everything from breakfast to lift tickets. When we arrived in our room, we were a little shocked at the amount of furniture that was crammed into the small space. The room had a murphy bed - we knew this when we booked, but were still surprised at how cramped the space was. There was a full kitchen - not needed - and took up a lot of space. The furniture was full size everything: couch, bar chairs, leather chair and large, round coffee table. Watch the toes and knee caps if you have to get up once you've gone to bed; it is an obstacle course designed for disaster! The bed was relatively comfortable. Oh the view - what view! We overlooked construction, which luckily was not happening during most of the vacation. The restaurant and Terra Cafe are wonderful - best breakfast and deal on the mountain. I would not really consider this a ski in/out property, since the nearest lift (Tram) is approximately 200 yds all uphill. If you time it right, on the way back at the end of the day, you may be able to ski directly to the hotel - dodging other people on the trail to the hotel.

One thing that bothered us was not being able to watch TV while lying in bed. The bed pulled out from the same wall as the TV was mounted (above the fireplace). There was a mirror on the opposite wall but it was mounted too high to capture the picture from the TV. If they lined them up correctly, or tilted the mirror, it would work.

Overall, Jackson Hole is a great vacation spot - expensive, but fun. The village is about 12 miles from downtown, which is an expensive venture should you want to take a cab - around $30.00 one-way. The best way to travel between the two is the city bus, $3.00 one-way; be sure to take the Red Line as it is the most efficient. The Hotel Terra does not have transportation to/from the airport, so making arrangements ahead of time is a good idea. A cab from the airport is $65.00 and the group shuttles were around $30.00 per person.

I would recommend the Hotel Terra to others, but make sure you select your room carefully and be specific about the view.

Hotel is nice, but rooms are very small. Be prepared to see a construction site view from your window. They are building another hotel right next to it.

Spa- is actually very nice. But prices are misleading - they do not include a 20% mandatory gratuity fee. And instead of 60 minute massage you get 50 as per their “newly revised brochure”.

Gym- Good luck with this one! If you would like to work out…you can take a walk in a freezing weather to their sister hotel near by. Trust me, by the time you will get to or from it you are guaranteed to have pneumonia.

Restaurants: Astoria and Cascades, reasonable prices and great food.

I read the reviews before I went on my vacation, and the petty, petty, petty complaints of some people made me laugh.

The hotel is beautiful. The staff is extremely nice and friendly. The setting is idyllic.

I paid $119 a night, and I thought it was a bargain. The dirty little secret of northwestern Wyoming is that Teton Park puts Yellowstone to shame and the Hotel Terra sits right next to the Tetons.

The Osteria was no good. The two greeters at the door the night I ate there were by far the least friendly people I met in Wyoming. The portions were very skimpy considering the high prices. My server was excellent. But the restaraunt's pretending to be first class, and it's really not.

  • Liked — It's so beautiful.
  • Disliked — Does everybody sleep 'til noon out there?
