“Quietly Outstanding”
Reviewed 9 August 2013

The Trail Shop is a small little inn and dining room in Wapiti, Wyoming. It is memorable for its sweet rustic atmosphere, the wonderful staff, and of course the incredible food. I have eaten here many times-it is my go-to when I am in the area. The menu is Western inspired but with a creative and gourmet edge. An example of the creativity and customer service is recently when a friend and I ate here my friend requested a non-alcoholic but creative drink. The waitress came back a few moments later with a concoction infused with a sage syrup that the chef had created that day for some dish. The drink was refreshing, absolutely delicious and completely embodied Wyoming flavor. I don't need anything more when I go out to eat-the Trail Shop has it all. Don't pass it by.

When you are in Cody country do not miss this darling restaurant. It sits in the heart of the Wapiti valley over looking lush fields and beautiful mountains. I can't say enough about the food, the atmosphere, and the staff. You're in for a wonderful treat when you dine at Trail Shop: an easy western feel combined with great food and wine. We ordered Walley and were so pleased with the way it was prepared. Take an evening and drop by, you won't be disappointed!

We choose the Trail shop Inn based on other reports. The cabin we were in was great and had a comfortable king size bed, small fridge and microwave and soaking tub. The room was clean and nice views of the mountains out our window. The price was great and I am happy we stayed there instead of Cody that we were considering. Each night when we got back from exploring Yellowstone the fridge had an orange, box of apple juice, granola bar and muffin in it for the next morning, they don't offer hot breakfast because the restaurant next door is not open for breakfast, however this was enough for us to eat. It was quiet, clean, peaceful there and we had a wonderful stay and would go back again. The restaurant had excellent food in and we ate there one night with a wonderful meal and service.

Room Tip: We were in room #2 and it was great. No air conditioning if you are staying in the summer, but we d...

We stayed there recently for 3 nights and it is really great. It is clean, private and the views of the mountains is absolutely wonderful. I was a little concerned about the cabin not having any a/c, but it wasn't even an issue, the cool night breeze thru the windows was all we needed. The food at the restaurant was excellent. Jess was very accomodating and helpful. I would highly recommend this place...great service and the price was excellent as well.

We found this place online and made reservations to stay for one night before heading to Sheridan, WY. We could not be happier with this place, spectacular views, the room was nice and clean, the bathroom was clean and spacious and the people could not have been nicer. since its a little of a disolated area, we dine in the restaurant and the food was super, nice cooked, excellent flavors. our stay was really pleasant. I highly recommend this place.

Due to the fires all over Utah and Colorado we changed our honeymoon plans at the very very last minute ( on our way home from the wedding 8 hours before we left home) on the 4th and 5th of July we landed at the Trail shop. We had taken the scenic route thru Beartooth Pass and the Chief Joseph Scenic Byway and by the time we got there it was after midnight and we had been in the car for 14 hours. I don't think I even looked at the room that night I did however notice how cool the wonderful night air was and how comfortable the bed was. The next morning I wandered outside to see that we were surrounded by the most beautiful mountains. The Lodge is over 100 years old and was stunning I only wish they had been open for breakfast. The Cabins are very private and Incredibly clean. Cable was available but we never even turned on the TV. There was a breakfast of fruit and oatmeal for us in the fridge. The water was hot and the water pressure was amazing. Jessie the manager informed me that they have cabins with 1,2,3 bed cabins. And all for a flat rate. We paid almost 70% less then other lodging near Yellowstone. The short 20 minute drive to the park is almost as beautiful as the park it's self. We had dinner at the Trail shop our second night there. My new husband ordered the Grilled Lamb and I had a Steak and we split them and shared. The food was out of this world. I couldn't say something bad about this place if I tried. The staff cares about their job and about their customers. There is a lot of passion and hardwork that makes a Honeymoon stay like this one so successful. Thank you for having us - Ayn and Casey Taylor, Louisville,NE

We loved this little Inn. It is so cute and nicely remodeled not to mention the stunning views and location near Yellowstone. Our parents and some friends joined us at this Inn for one night on our way into Yellowstone. The rooms were old log cabins beautifully remodeled, both our room and our friends had one separate sleeping room in addition to the main sleeping area. Small refrigerator, microwave and room fan provided. Very clean and pleasing to look at. There is a lovely river in front of the cabins for fly fishing or just taking a walk. A dirt road takes you part way up the hills for some different views. Very quiet and peaceful. It seemed there were only about 5 rooms available for rent.

A small breakfast was provided of muffins, granola bars, fresh fruit, juice in a box and oatmeal. Coffee available in room as well.

A few minor draw backs. One was lack of in room seating - wooden rocker on the porch though. We used our camp chairs to hang outside at night. No air conditioning - night time was cool and the breeze and in room fan cooled us just fine. Limited outlets due to age of cabin so we had to swap plugging things in.

Over all we all loved the cabins and would absolutely stay here again.

The restaurant on location had very nice views out it's large front windows. We did not eat there but it was romantic and probably best for adults or well behaved kids.

Room Tip: Ask for cabin with unobstructed mountian and river views. Or, if traveling in a larger group ask fo...
