“Family Reunion Haven!”
Reviewed 21 August 2013

My three siblings and I, and our extended families & some friends, were at Wapiti Lodge for a family reunion, coming from all over the country. Jayne and Doug were awesome hosts, giving us plenty of space, making arrangements for tours and activities, and even joining us for a campfire and singing. After only one day they were accepted as "family". The Lodge has in interesting history and its setting on the south side of the Shoshone River in a beautiful valley surrounded by mountains. Would eagerly return to this placid place!

The location between Cody and Yellowstone is great for visiting the area. The owners Doug & Jayne are on-site and are very helpful and accomodating. They make great sandwiches to take on daytrips and provide a cooler. Ice, snacks and other supplies are available at their store attached to the lodge. Our rooms (The Langford) were clean and well appointed. Overall, a great place to stay with family in the Yellowstone-Cody area!

I made a reservation for one night at the Lodge through Expedia. Several hours after the confirmation, I needed to cancel the room due to personal issues.

Although Expedia had published incorrect criteria for cancellation, Jayne agreed to a "no charge" for the room. Usually, the Lodge requires a four week notification for a cancellation.

I am only sorry that I am not able to stay at the beautiful Wapiti lodge, and must cancel my entire trip to the Yellowstone area. I am so grateful to the innkeepers for allowing me to cancel my reservation even though it is not their usual policy. They are a class act.

Room Tip: Expedia services have deteriorated significantly over the last year. Be certain that you verify all...

The Wapiti Lodge is located 20 miles West of Cody and 30 miles east of the Yellowstone east gate which makes it perfect for exploring the area. Our room (Langford suite) was updated with a top of the line appliances in the kitchenette but still clearly part of the early 1900's structure. Jane and Doug are the perfect hosts with information about the area and a well balanced sense of hospitality and efficiency.

Our 3 night stay was just perfect for 3 adults with everything working out perfectly. We'll definitely stay here when we are back exploring the area.

Room Tip: The lodge is close to the east gate road so if you sleep with windows open you may want to get one...

The room was very nice and exceptionally clean. The owners were very accomidating and friendly. The kitchenette included a larger refrigerator and small stove. My only complaints were that the tap water did not taste good and that it was very far away from the "main attractions" in Yellowstone. It is only 30 miles to the east entrance but it is about 90 miles from Old Faithful and many of the other famous thermals.

We stayed 3 nights while visiting Cody WY and Yellowstone. The owners make this place very special. they definitely go above and beyond -- as an example, I thought they had guest laundry machines...but they didn't. Jayne did our laundry though - how great was that?

The room was a nice size. The only negative was that the lodge is located right on the highway and noise can be a problem....hint...use the air conditioner. We didn't the first 2 nights - but on the third night we tried turning it on to block the noise - and slept like a baby.

The lodge is a great location for seeing both Cody and Eastern area of Yellowstone.

Room Tip: You might try the stand alone cabin - it sits back a little further and doesn't border other roo...

New, Clean, Comfortable, Beautiful, FUN and best of all - the owners! You won't fins a better place to stay! My family (Mom, Brother, Sister-in Law and I) spent 3 wonderful days at the lodge. The owners were so accommodating, and the lodge has obviously had a lot of love invested in it. It was the perfect atmosphere for us - Felt just like HOME! The owners have a lot of local knowledge of the area and we bought amazing trout, did incredible hikes, and had a lot of laughs! When the people are this real you can't go wrong. If you are on you way to of from East Yellowstone, the is the place to stop! The Shoshone River runs through it's back doors! Amazing experience and we will be back - there is no question!

Room Tip: Room on the corner is HUGE! ROoms in the back are perfect for a family with kids! Front rooms are...
