“Fabulous and Gourmet”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 October 2010

A truly fabulous and relaxing experience! My friend and I chose the Bentwood Inn for a girl's weekend getaway. We found the whole experience to be exactly what we were looking for. The Inn is centrally located to many attractions, yet very quiet and peacful. The facilities were impeccably clean and tastefully decorated. What made us truly feel "at home" were the attentive, helpful and extremely accomodating innkeepers. Deborah and Lee were able to offer many suggestions for tours and places to visit and truly made our stay enjoyable. The breakfast each morning was varied and delicious. There was wine and vaious cheeses, crackers, spreads etc... offered at the wine and cheese hour. Upon arrival, the inn keepers offered a Bistro dinner for the following evening, which was indeed gourmet and truly a treat! The trip far exceeded our expectations and we hope we can do this again in the future.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cozy Bentwood Inn. This was our first visit to Wyoming and the leaves were changing on the trees, as if God took his paintbrush and painted the whole area. I loved just looking out the window from our cozy room. The inkeepeers Deborah and Lee were gracious hosts and extremely knowledgeable of the surrounding areas and activities. We always felt welcome and taken care of on our four day visit. They were so kind to us, we almost felt like family. The breakfasts were always scrumptious and a great way to start off the day. The brocoli fritata and scones were absolutely amazing. The "English" french cinnamon french toast was another of my favorites. The presentation of the wine, cheese and fruit was superb and a fun time to socialize and get to know the other guests. We loved the hikes that were suggested; one was to Hidden Falls. Kayaking on Jenny Lake with breathtaking views was a highlight of our trip too. All in all we had such a wonderful time and we can't wait to plan our next visit to Bentwood Inn again.

The Bentwood Inn is a wonderful Bed & Breakfast. The rooms are big and comfy, the food was delicious, and the hosts were so nice! Deborah and Lee treated us like close friends. We were given so much advice and suggestions on where to eat and what to do, it was great. The breakfasts were so yummy, we always had seconds. The wine and cheese was great in the early evening. Deborah was so nice, she even got me sparkling cider since I am pregnant and couldn't drink the wine. So thoughtful! Every day we could just look out a window and see the most beautiful Fall colors. We highly recommend the Bentwood Inn in Jackson Hole!

The Bentwood Inn has everything but a soul. Certainly the architecture and appointments are just fabulous. The theme and idea of a bentwood inn in Jackson Hole is compelling. The WEBsite pictures and reality certainly match.

So why did we have a problem? After all the ooh and ahhs, we had to realize that the lodging seems to be a designer "boutique" lodging that is built with "corporate" money of some type (fine) and run by folks who are passing through as inn keepers (not OK). (maybe inn sitters would be a better word.) There was absolutely no warmth from the folks who ran the place and we were made to feel that we were kinda' interrupting their nice stay at the place by being there.

Check out their WEBsite and you probably will imagine that the Bentwood Inn is located in some serene spot that fits the vernacular of Jackson Hole. Yes, their grounds are nice but the location is on a very busy highway and I never got over the fact that the that the property next door was an auto repair shop and an auto junk yard. We had to dodge a car with a for sale sign to get in the driveway.

So the place is odd - it has terrific design and decorating but the location is less than desirable for the experience we were seeking and the host created no energy or warmth. For my travel dollar, the lack of energy and "vibes" made the Bentwood Inn a poor value for the experience we were seeking.

The Bentwood Inn is always disappointed to learn one of our guests’ has left unhappy. We strive to provide a terrific vacation experience for everyone who chooses the Inn for their lodging in Jackson Hole. We would like all of our guests to know we take their posted reviews seriously, and if an opportunity to improve our service has been pointed out, we will do our utmost to do so.

We received a total of five critical reviews over a three week period in late September and early October, 2010. This was a first for the Inn. Unfortunately, the timing corresponds to the period when one of our Innkeepers underwent knee surgery. The recovery period was far longer than anticipated. Clearly we didn’t anticipate the strain on guest relations the surgery would incur, and there was an obvious impact on guest satisfaction. For this we apologize. We have written to every reviewer individually and sought to express our professional apologies.

It is Bentwood policy to work around our guests’ schedules for meals. We often provide breakfast at seven or “to-go” breakfasts for those leaving early to ski or wishing to take food on a hike or other activity. As a result of this comment, we will double-down our efforts to ensure the early breakfast option is communicated directly to every arriving guest.

We have services for coffee and tea available 24 / 7 and, as our guests know, we bake cookies in the afternoon which we leave out for all of our guests. It’s not uncommon to find guests hunting around for extra cookies late at night!

The Bentwood Inn’s Evening Wine & Cheese service has proven very popular with all of our guests. As a business, it’s one of the things we believe personalizes a stay at the Bentwood. The concerns expressed about a lack of diversity of wine and other offerings is something we have taken note of and are resolved not to let happen in the future. Thank you for this very helpful comment.

Mention of traffic noise is another first for the business. The Bentwood Inn is located quite a distance from the road, with heavily wooded terrain in-between. The inn is constructed from large, dense logs and the windows are all double paned. We wish the guest would have communicated their discomfort to us. If there had been an open room in another part of the Inn, we would gladly have moved them.

The Bentwood Inn genuinely appreciates the time and effort our guests put into their reviews. We have expanded our efforts to alert guests to please communicate with us if anything is not 100% during their stay. The best opportunity to improve guest satisfaction is when they are staying with us – our commitment is to try our very best. Thank you again.

We checked in and the hostess made a joke about our last name. Good start. She let us know we had to let her know if we wouldn't be up for breakfast (8 - 9:30 am) or if we couldn't be back in time for wine and cheese (5 - 6:30 pm). We're on vacation! I might want to sleep in or we might be out hiking. ? The inn is about 100 feet from the highway and there is traffic noise until about 2 in the morning. Breakfast was ok, the scrambled eggs were particularly wonderful. The quiche one morning was undercooked and inedible. Same wines and cheese every evening. One night we had brie, which was very good. But the next 3 nights we had a diminishing bowl of the same smoked fish pate. Not so good on the 3rd night. The morning we left, half of the clientele was on the same flight. No hot water, no coffee set out, nothing. Considering you are paying about $300 +a night for a room, that is totally unacceptable. We did have a substitute hostess for a couple of times while we were there, and she was much more friendly and helpful than the innkeepers. Won't go back and won't recommend it to any friends.

The Bentwood Inn has new Innkeepers from December, 2012.

Rachel and Neil will do everything they can to ensure every stay not only meets, but exceeds, guest expectations. You can expect fresh cooked breakfasts, diverse offerings for the evening appetizer hour and any questions or requests for concierge support to quickly addressed.

And ... there won't be any inappropriate jokes.

We sincerely apologize that this guest had a less than satisfactory experience. Such an experience is not what the Bentwood inn is known for.

We enjoyed our short stay immensely. Deborah is a gem. Lee can cook a mean breakfast. We particularly liked the fluffy featherbeds and comforters as well as the proximity to Jackon while being out of the tourist trappy center of town. A quiet, restful place.

The Bentwood Inn was the most marvelous B & B we have ever experienced! The inn's Western architecture and decor are visually stunning, from the summer wildflowers outside the front door to the 3-story river rock fireplace, and are immaculately maintained. We loved the location just outside of town, which was wonderfully quiet with mountain views from our bedroom balcony, yet allowed us to be in downtown Jackson, Teton Village, or the Moose entrance to Grand Teton National Park in just a few minutes. The bed was divine, breakfasts and daily wine-and-cheese spreads were terrific, and we enjoyed a salmon-and-steak bistro dinner prepared by innkeepers Lee and Deborah, who were warm and quietly attentive. If there's a more romantic setting for a wedding, I've never seen it! We look forward to returning to the Bentwood to enjoy the other three seasons in Jackson Hole.
