This is a fabulous B&B ~1500 feet above the Pacific Ocean, so it has incredible views of the ocean as well as the surrounding Kona Coast. The vegetation is nice mix of decorative plants and fruit trees, and you drive through a coffee planation on the way up the hill. The rooms are well equipped, and the commons areas spacious and inviting. Above all, Lee and Svetlana are very welcoming hosts who are attentive to individual needs without becoming intrusive, providing spot-on advice on the many things to do on the Big Island. Svetlana's fresh, hearty, varied breakfasts (with mostly local/organic ingredients), together with Lee's fresh Kona coffee provide a wonderful start to the day.
The trip to the house involves a one mile drive that climbs ~500 feet from the state highway. The road is steep but paved where Lee and Svetlana maintain it, and bumpy where others maintain it instead. You really need to rent a SUV for proper ground clearance. That said, we were there during Tropical Storm Flossie, and drove up to the house in the height of the storm without a problem.
We had to return to Honolulu for a business conference. We are in a nice hotel on Waikiki now, but the change was, frankly, wrenching. We miss Aloha Guest House.More
