“Great Stopover Spot for the Hawaii Belt Drive”
Reviewed 25 May 2014

We were on a drive from our house in south Kona, north to Waimea and then south to Hilo. During the drive, we decided to stay in Hilo overnite. Seaside Inn was the first and best priced location that came up on the search. What a great experience. Simple, adequate, clean and super friendly staff made this a great place to visit. Unique in that it is still owned and operated by an Hawaiian family. Breakfast at the Coconut Grill was an added bonus. Overall, wonderful place.

It's an older building but it's been kept up nicely! Very convenient to the airport and the best price I found online.
The staff is extremely friendly. I arrived 6 hours before the 3pm check-in but stopped just to make sure they had the reservation on file and to let them know I would be checking in after 10pm. They had a room ready so they went ahead and checked me in.
Room is nice and more than I expected for the price. Free wifi, clean and maintained pool, cold ac. What more could you hope for at this price!?

We arrived here prior to bike Volcano tour. We were given a window seat which had views of the mountains in the back drop, how relaxing after an early morning 45 minute flight from Oahu. After checking with the various car rentals at the airport. We booked online the same morning of our arrival. This hotel is less than 15 minutes from Hilo airport. For breakfast we selected from the a'la carte’ menu. Breakfast was wonderful and if we went back I’m pretty sure this would be one of the hotels we would stay. The waitress was very information and provided us with other interesting sites for our day visit. If you’re not staying here mark Hilo breakfast on your list!

Room Tip: Buffet breakfast is also offered. Do not park your car under or near trees.

The Hilo Seaside Hotel is not a Marriott or a Hilton. It's better--especially if you like a local feel, which we do. The rooms are clean and neat. There is coffee, WIFI and air conditioning. The common areas are beautiful. Our room was in the courtyard, poolside. The flowers and trees around the pool enhance the Hawaiian feel. My wife is a quilter, so the quilt squares in the hallway blew her away. And the staff were all very friendly and helpful. This stay was a last minute change in our plans. We are so glad we found this Hotel.

We needed a room for one night while visiting friends in Hilo. The hotel is vintage built in 1956 with only 30 rooms The rooms are small, but comfortable, very clean and well kept. The Queen size bed was comfortable. The staff are very Aloha friendly and helpful. The grounds are well kept, tropical and relaxing. The hotel is located near the flight path of Hilo Airport and a bit noise at times. Good value if you're on a tight budget and want a good place to sleep.

We had to make a stop for one night in Hilo. Therefor the Hotel is good. Probably not for a 2 week vacation. The location at the Banyan trees is great. Rooms are like a motel. Old fashioned. But clean and friendly staff.

Stayed in this hotel 33 years ago. I was surprised, with this stay, how new management had transformed the atmosphere. It still is the old Hukilau Hotel, but with amenity upgrades, free wifi, new paint and furnishing. If you are interested in "Hilo" nostalgia, stay here. The koi pond and gardens are well kept. Rooms are clean and comfortable.
