“Kona Coffee House”
Reviewed 25 February 2017 for a stay in February 2017

Simply the best place to enjoy the big island! Especially if you like to get away from the maddening crowd you'd find in Hotel environments. This little oasis has everything you need. We look forward to our next trip to the big Island and staying at the Kona coffee house!

“Comfortable, secluded guesthouse in a beautiful setting”

We wanted to experience a few nights of our Big Island trip at higher elevation; the Kona Coffee guest house provided quite a change from the warm and humid oceanfront condo that we rented at Keauhou. Afternoons were rainy and cool with temps well below the costal highs. The guest house accommodation was very comfortable, spotless, and appeared as new throughout. This rental provides lots of privacy, we met our pleasant hosts during check-in and did not encounter them afterwards. In late afternoon and into the evening the noisy sound of the coqui frogs definitely adds to the jungle feel of the guest house. We enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to recommend it.

My wife and I had a most enjoyable stay at the Kona Coffee Vacation Rental. Our hosts, Donna and Robbie, were most gracious. The rental was clean and cozy. The furnishings were tasteful and functional. The atmosphere was serene. We enjoyed the sunsets from the gazebo and the orchestra of birds and frogs that filled the evening air. We stayed a week that went by way to fast. There was one irritant and it is island wide and not confined to the vacation rental, wild chickens, more specifically the roosters. They start crowing about 4am. But even that we became accustomed too towards the end of our stay.
Thank you so much Donna and Robbie.

“Quiet, relaxing, private”

This is a wonderful spot to get away from the busyness of the more touristy areas of beach side Kona, with all the traffic and the noise, this was paradise! A short drive down the road, and within a few minutes you are ready to shop, eat or head to a beach, and then retreat to a calm, quiet zone again.

The bed is mega comfy! Towels for both the beach and the bath are included, as is two beach chairs and a nice wee cooler, with ice pack in the fridge. This came in extremely handy for me as I have to carry an epi-pen and they degrade quickly in a hot car. So each morning I plopped my epi-pen and the ice pack and a few bottles of water and was ready for anything!

The landscaping is quite lovely, and the wild chickens are fun to watch. Yes, they will crow early in the morning, but after a morning or two, you wont hear them. Several nights we saw wild pigs with young, exciting!

The kitchen is well equipped, and the stove and fridge all work well. There is a built in water filter so you can refill your own bottles saving both money and plastic from the environment. The lanai is covered, but not screened in, but only later at night with a light on do the mosquitoes become an issue. It's so nice to sit out on the lanai and eat breakfast and plan the day. We spent more time on the lanai than inside the living room.

Internet connection works well, and is fast!

We were completely comfortable spending 4 days in this gorgeous place. Donna and Robbie were welcoming without being intrusive. They hit the balance of the laid back aloha spirit while still being diligent about the rental's cleanliness and functionality. The views of Honokohau Bay are spectacular from the gazebo, kitchen, and bedroom. The lanai has a view of the lush, tropical vegetation. Abundant windows give an indoor/outdoor feel and catch the breezes. You can't beat the private and quiet atmosphere while still having quick access to the activity of the Kona area. We would return tomorrow if we could!

We spent 4 nights here and loved it. The property is private and very well appointed. Comfortable bed and very relaxing space. Gorgeous views as well. Hosts were friendly and lovely to deal with. Lots of recommendations if you ask. Beautiful coffee too! We highly recommend this place to stay and if visiting again we would choose this place again.

“Quiet and comfortable location away from the city”

Well appointed and comfortable, this space is over the garage and has a great view of the ocean below and dense foliage behind. This area is residential with more unique and family owned businesses. Very quiet and lush location that feels very private.
Expect to be greeted by the friendly family dog, see and hear lots of birds, and even some pigs, chickens, and cows in the neighboring property. They offer their hot tub for use and also have washer and dryer available (bring quarters). The kitchen was well stocked with pans and dishes and there were a few basics in the cabinet as well.
