I stayed here in July with my mom and 2 sisters and we all agreed that this is one of the nicest places we have ever stayed. The drive to the B&B is up a bumpy, one-lane, two-way traffic road through the forest, which can either be daunting or exciting depending on your personality (we loved it). Be assured that it is well worth traveling a bit off the map when you see the property. We stayed in the Olu Olu and A'ala rooms which were cozy, clean, and perfect for our needs. I was initially hesitant to book because there is no air conditioning, but was pleasantly surprised to find the temperature drop to the 60s F at night due to the elevation. If interested, there are opportunities to meet and socialize with other travelers and staff at the complimentary wine and appetizer hour, but otherwise it felt as if we had the place to ourselves. The staff were excellent!! Always friendly and helpful when needed but never intrusive. Very keen attention to detail. We were offered everything from a list of local restaurant menus to umbrellas and a cooler for our daily excursions. Breakfast exceeded our expectations! Large servings, beautifully and tastefully prepared with fresh local ingredients. The 3 course dinner was also delicious! They are very happy to accommodate any food restrictions. Location-wise, the B&B is about central between Kona and Hilo making for easy travel around the island. It is also near the scenic Waipio Valley and cute shops in Honokaa. Need to drive a bit farther if you want to get access to a beach, but didn't bother us. Can't say enough good things about this experience! If you're on the fence about booking, JUST DO IT! A true Hawaiian treasure in my opinion.

Waianuhea is difficult to find and out of the way, but the search is so worthwhile! We stayed one night after a day of exploring Waipio Valley. It was raining when we arrived, but Randy met us at the car with an umbrella to escort us inside. She immediately made us feel welcome -- we so appreciated her warmth and hospitality. The grounds and views from the rooms are amazing. The beauty from outside is continued inside with the furnishings, artwork and multiple bouquets of flowers. We had arranged for dinner ahead of time and experienced our favorite meal of our two weeks in Hawaii. The food was delicious and it was fun to have it served and described by our "personal" chef, Stephanie. Randy prepared the breakfast, and it too was artfully presented and extremely tasty. Such a great find -- one of my favorite places I've stayed.

This property is amazing and away from the noisy world, nestled into the hills above Honoka'a and in the shadow of Mauna Kea. The main house is colorful and magical and was nothing like we've ever seen before. Our family stayed in the private back house and we enjoyed the small heat-stove on the cool nights and the sky-lights above the bed where we could watch the stars and fall asleep. We even braved the chill at night to sit in the field where chairs were provided to watch the night sky and listen to the frogs singing and the gentle rustling of the large trees that surround the property. The staff was friendly and attentive and the breakfast was prepared for us in four star fashion. An absolutely pleasant and memorable experience.

We spent some of our honeymoon at your Inn and loved it. Between the Big Island and Oahu we stayed in 5 places, but Waianuhea was my favorite. It was for sure the best place I have ever stayed. Although not perfect, I would recommend you to anyone. The privacy was great for honeymooners like us. The breakfasts were amazing! If it were not for our sightseeing we would have booked dinner. Loved the toiletries, bed service, and small little touches. The grounds were amazing and we loved using the spa. The view was great too! We also appreciate the staff working with our needs. We arrived late and had to leave early one morning and they catered to our needs. Love the book and movie collection too.

Waianuhea was such a beautiful place to stay. Although it is a little far from the main highway, it is pretty easy to get to. The grounds are breathtaking, the views are beautiful, and the rooms are plush and comfortable. Randy and all of the staff are so welcoming and accommodating! They even helped us plan some of our vacation activities. The breakfasts were some of the best We've ever had! We're still craving the oatmeal blueberry breakfast cookies!! This is a place to be pampered. We can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: All of the rooms are quite cozy. Two have queen beds, two have kings, and there is a secluded cottag...

Tucked away in a beautifully secluded area on the north side of the big island, this B & B is truly a gem. The grounds are lush and well tended. The inside of the B & B is stunningly beautiful. The staff know how to make guests feel welcome; everyone was warm, generous, and gracious. The staff are also highly knowledgeable about activities on the island. The bed was so comfortable, I almost didn't want to leave in the mornings. Breakfast is lovely and ordering the optional dinner is well worth it. Many places to sit and have coffee while watching nature. Decidedly worth the drive and the price. I feel so lucky to have discovered such a rare and serene place to spend my vacation.

Room Tip: Most of the rooms are on one side of the house. One of the rooms is off by itself, but near the kit...

Eco-friendly. Off grid. Solar. Rain catchment. Beautiful common areas. Lovely people. Hot tubs. Multiple levels, sitting rooms. They have four rooms and a separate cottage. The two less expensive rooms are nice but smaller. The two more expensive are lovely and bigger. It is secluded and once there, you don't want to leave. Arrange in advance to have dinner there. Wonderful dinner and breakfast. Overall expensive but worth it
