“Waipi'o Valley Overlook”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2014

The reason why you come to the Big Island is to enjoy the scenery! While on the Hilo side, make it a day and enjoy the Hamakua Coast Drive. Make the Waipi'o Valley Overlook your last stop before turning around to head back into Hilo (if you are staying there.) It is a beautiful lookout of the northwest side of the island. They have a picnic shelter, if you want to enjoy a nice lunch with a beautiful view. You can also hike down to the beach. But I will warn, the grade is pretty steep so start early and do your research. Definitely worth the drive out!

“Magnificient”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2014

While the view was magnificent, the ride down into the valley was absolutely thrilling! Our guide Micah from the WOH ranch was so knowledgeable and loved sharing with us during horseback ride through the valley. Do not attempt to drive down without a guide or a good 4 wheel drive vehicle. The view alone from this lookout is worth a stop.

“Pretty”

Quite a view. If you aren't going down into the valley, at least make the trip to see the view. They had a bathroom, a steep walkway which might be challenging for some guest.
