We made a last minute decision to get a hotel closer to the Kona side for the night and found this little gem listed in the 'Big Island Revealed' guidebook. The person answering the phone was not the friendliest, but she did set us up with the IRIS room. When we arrived; it was after office hours and the receipt and directions to the room were taped to the front door. It was a bit strange to be able to walk through the main building with no one there, but the interiors were absolutely charming; as was the walk to our room. And the room was a wonderful surprise. It was spacious and comfortable with a King size bed and large jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. Plenty of towels and shower supplies were provided. There was a private lanai that looked out over a small garden. It was nice to wake up to an unusually sunny day in Waimea and enjoy a cup of coffee in the comfy whicker chairs. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wished we had stayed here at least two nights. We will definitely plan and extended stay here the next time we're in the area. The exterior of the buildings and the grounds could probably stand a little more attention, but it did not detract in any way from our stay here. And I was pleasantly surprised at the rate for this room. Very, very pleased with our stay.

Room Tip: The layout of the rooms provides plenty of privacy and we did not notice any noise coming from the n...

I got in very late, so did not have much time to enjoy this place. The Inn used to be the home of the Parker Ranch manager and has lots of "character". It was a little hard and treacherous trying to find my room (separate building) in the dark, so I would recommend arriving here during daylight hours.
My room had a lanai overlooking the "vegetable garden", which certainly has seen better days. I don't think anything other than weeds have grown there in years. The fence along the highway really should get a coat of paint - it is not a good introduction to the property.
Lastly, the room. Very cozy with a jacuzzi tub and separate shower, huge bathroom. Large canopy bed and a nice sitting area. I would have liked to spend more time there. I would suggest, however, when the owners get around to renovating, that they decorate in lighter colors. Dark purple and burgundy just don't seem very "Hawaiian".

Room Tip: Comments are based on room 3 (Iris)

What a unique, wonderful experience! This is a former ranch home set up as as a boutique hotel. The rooms are fabulous and luxurious--very relaxing and romantic. You really have to see it to believe it. Huge tube and shower room. Bed was very comfortable. It is a peaceful, quiet, historic retreat to relax and unwind, yet within a reasonable drive of the many fabulous things the Big Island has to offer. No TV, internet, restaurants, or people to help with bags. We had to wander around looking for the Innkeeper, who was in her office. She is, as other reviewers have said, a delightful person. Maybe not for everyone, but we loved it. Price was very reasonable and it was so nice to get away from crowds and noise and the blah, blah, blah of TV and even denied an internet connection. It's really nice to get away from all that once in a while. Go with someone you love, take a good book, and enjoy!

Meeting the Innkeeper, Mary Ellen, was just wonderful. She's very engaging and knowledgable of the local area and she helped us have a wonderful time. Mary Ellen cheerfully helped us with all our needs. We found the Jacaranda Inn magical. It is the perfect spot to get away from the crowds and to enjoy the beautiful scenary in Waimea and just the perfect distance from Kohala beaches---a 15 minute drive. It was also nice to be able to sleep at a higher altitude where air conditioning is not needed. Birds, flowers, rainbows, and spectaculiar views of the green hillsides with stream and waterfalls in the foreground. The spacious rooms are decorating delights and are well appointed with high quality linens and great mattresses...we didn't want to get out of bed...romantically snuggled. The great house was very interesting and well decorated. We enjoyed playing pool in the Koa wood, paneled library and sitting on our lanai reading our kindles. Close to restaurants and other attractions about half way between Kona & Hilo...perfect location for those traveling the island. If you want a quiet, luxurious get-away, look no farther than here:) And best of all, we thought it was underpriced!

Room Tip: Room 3 is exceptionally romantic with a huge, well appointed bath with seperate shower and jacuzzi t...

This is the first time i had such room....
During my Visit theres no Restaurant, no breakfast, no room service, there was practically nothing to offer. Just the ROOM. Our Room (Room 4) was without TV. But despite of all that im not complaining.

HUGE SHOWER room with Separate Jaguzzi, which i didnt have time to use.

Im sure the could work on the Garden, im sure its use to be a very nice Garden, but now its just abandon. thats too bad. but look if they did, then maybe they will charge even more.

Anyhow Location was good, only 1.3miles away is the next TOWN for resturants, Starbucks FAST internet, supermarket and other things.

We highly recommend this lovely spot for a quiet get-a-way from the big resorts. Mary Ellen is very kind and professional, and was also able to recommend quality restaurants in the near by areas. While the grounds are a bit overgrown, the building and accomidations were 5 stars. Our room was clean and was furnished for royality, and the bathroom was HUGE with a soaker/jacuzzi tub and a seperate standing shower. We also had a very private back patio which was a added bonus.

This inn is close to restaurants and stores in the nearby Waimea town. Lots of parking, at no extra costs like the resorts. The only suggestion I would have is to install wireless internet in the rooms for the business types such as myself.

If you like crowded hotels and a 1/2 mile walk to your room, then go to the resorts in Kohala. If you enjoy peace and privacy, then the Jacaranda Inn is the place you are looking for! Highly recommended.

We were driving around Big Island and stayed at many places but Jacaranda Inn was by far the best stay. We arrived too early and were searching for somebody to accommodate us - there was no problem to get the room even 3 hours before official check-in time. The room was clean, very rustic, with old-fashioned but very nice furniture, a huge bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub. The bathroom was more modern but it fitted into the room style. We were allowed to check-out 2 hours later. Sleeping was great, virtually no noise, despite we were facing the entrance road.
Surprisingly there was no breakfast, even though there are big (and again rustic) dinning rooms at the premises, so that's the only minus of the stay.
Overall, highly recommended stay in Waimea...
