This museum has various displays about the volcano and the science that controls them. The best part is the overlook of the caldera, and the view of the active crater within. At night (good weather) the glow from the lava on the gas clouds is a unique sight.

This was a great educational museum about volcanoes. I learned so much. I found the displays very interesting and read nearly everything. Obviously, this is subjective, but I noticed many people found the displays very interesting.
It allows deeper appreciation of the destructive forces of volcanoes and nature in general. When you tour around after seeing the museum you understand!

The view of the volcano from the museum is eye opening.
If you go during the day, you must -- absolutely must -- come back at night to look at the volcano. It's beautiful and awe inspiring at the same time. It moves something inside you.

The museum was interesting. What we loved was the view of the volcano, both in the daylight and at night when it was pitch black and all you could see was the orange glow of the volcano. Loved it!!!

You don't need to spend more than one hour here. Views of volcano are good from here. Museum itself, not that interesting.

Learn about the history of Kilauea and the Goddess Pele. Get the best view of the active crater. See and feel volcanic rock in its many forms. Learn about scientific measurement of volcanic activity. It's a great education for young and old at the rim of the world's most active volcano.
