We did have a bit of a challenge finding this cafe not realizing it was at the end of Old Volcano Road. Just keep driving...you'll find it. We stopped in for lunch. I had the vegetarian chili with rice which was flavorful and delicious and not too spicy. My husband had the soup and lasagna which he also enjoyed. They had delicious and very large macaroons (gluten free). I'd highly recommend them. The garden and art were very interesting. I'm glad we stopped in.

We had been told by the ladies at Volcano Village Lodge that this was the best place in town for a vegetarian lunch. Sorry, ladies, but we were disappointed.
Pros: The outside seating and art museum is very nice. The grounds are nice and fun for a short walk.
Cons: Our food was a total disappointment. I ordered a salad and soup. For the price it was terrible. The salad was small and the green dressing was tasteless. The vegetable soup tasted like chopped up vegies in hot water. My husband had the same soup and was disappointed as well. The lasagna was okay, but not a delicious treat that you would expect at a place like this.
There must be a better choice here.

Our Volcano host brought us to the Volcano Garden Arts gallery and gift shop and here we had lunch at the Cafe Ono. The food is vegetarian, fresh, creative and delicious. Highly recommended.

Highly recommend Cafe Ono. They are in the little town called Volcano and just a short drive from the entrance to the volcano park. Excellent food, vegan options, great personal service and a neat property. The only drawback is not much seating inside. But they have options for outside seating.

This is a great place to grab a "huge" sandwich for your hike around Volcano National Park. I also bought a slice of quiche to try and heat it up on the caldera.
